New Zealand hooker Andrew Hore has been called "a disgrace" by Wales assistant coach Rob Howley after striking Bradley Davies in Saturday's Test in Cardiff.

The incident forced Davies to leave the field in the opening minutes of the match and has been widely condemned by fans and the media after video content of the incident circulated online.

Hore's blindside shot on the Cardiff second row has been cited, with the hearing on Wednesday.

"What Hore did has got no place on a rugby field, as far as I am concerned," said Howley.

"It was an absolute disgrace. He has been cited, and I am sure it won't be taken too lightly.

"Situations and incidents like that have no place on the rugby field, and it had a huge impact on the game.

"You don't traditionally think the All Blacks want to do things like that. They are a good enough team not to so we were very surprised by the actions of the player.

"Bradley has severe concussion and cannot play this weekend.

"It was pretty obvious that something untoward had happened.

"Whether the referee should be able to go to the TMO in those situations is something for the IRB to decide."

Looking at the clip - the offence was really worse than Whay I thought was the case at first.   That really warrant a six month ban and I hope he gets it.

I happened in a split second. Was it a mistake and Hore's hand coming around was was just too high. Looking at the clip I wonder how intentional it was. If it was intentional then sure throw the book at him.

It is not a mistake- Check this article. It can be seen that the Welsh player is deliberely running in all black hores way.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/20487856

What is worse- is looking at it from this angle he knocks the Welsh player down into the ruck, and then runs over him to clear him out of the ruck. It may even be from standing on the Welsh player- that knocks him out.

Sharkbok

Just one question - Davies was running back to get onside on the maul that was forming - which other route must be follow to get onside other than to try and run around the All Black players in the maul?   Either left or right were his choices - he took the right side and took a stiff arm from Hore.

Beeno

Every player in the history of the game who used stiff arm tactics will always plead non-intnent - that really is a farce and not an excuse t all.    I don't think it really count as a defensive argument.

 Clevermike

He had left or right, and chose to run directly in front of the line of Hore. Hore tries to go further right and it is clear that Davies is intend in cutting him off. It is 100% blatant obstruction. Check the video in this link-

From this angle it is 100% clear that Hore is being cutt off, then when he changes his running line Davies does the same. This is why Hore got so frustrated.

And that is justification for taking the law into his own hands by striking the player from behind, like a moegoe?

I'm confused. Are we having a conversation about whether or not this was alright to do because he was offside and in the way???

@canrugby- Their is 2 threads on the topic.

This thread relates directly to what the Welsh have had to say.

It is Bongani that is stoned or drunk, and as a result has distorted the topic at hand..

The other thread deals with the players guilt, along with the required  extensive punishment that should be dealt to Hore.    http://sarugby.com/forum.cfm?threadid=3104

-

This thread is debating as to whether the Welsh person was actually offside to begin with.

Ahhhh, I see.

Well, He was offside for a couple of seconds, but I see him clearly running, or beginning to run to the right of the ruck. He may have been doing it a little slow, but he was moving towards the right at a decent pace while the ruck was just being formed. I have seen much much worse. Heck, I've done much worse. LOL. I usually just get shoved out of the way.

Saw the overhead of this incident last night and have to concur with Sharkbok. Not sure if this is the same clip you are talking about Sharkbok as I can't bring up the link you referred to above. Davies not only moves directly into Hore's path to impede him but he has a look over his shoulder first to make sure he is running the right line to achieve this!!

Before you all go off again, I'm in no way condoning what Hore did but now understand why he lost the plot.

obstructive lazy running is part and parcel of the game but taking a swing at a player that is in your way is not really in my view the right way to go about it.

the AB are also past masters of pulling players jerseys at the ruck as they play near the try line in order to create space but you dont see other players taking there law into there own hands

moodaa

I hope Hore does not get a hefty ban - can you imagine what will happen to the New Zealand posters on this site for the next year in such an event.  Beeno will go ballisric ( does he not normally?) and reasonable arguments would be disputed because of the Hore incident.

Have fun though and enjoy the remainder of he rugby season.   Please note that I forecast a win for the All Blacks against the despicable ex-colonialists.   Hope they have a decent referee on Saturday - otherwise the All Blacks would have a hard time.

its a pity old hore pulled out the lipstick and hangbags for the welsh. would have loved to see him have a swing at a english man.

lets hope the AB put the poms to disgrace.

@ Carpetmuncher. By other players do you mean Bakkies "the butt" Bothug, Skulk "eye gouger" Burger and Johan "ear biter" Le Roux?

@ Mike. Hore deserves and will probably get a hefty ban.

here is an excellent comment on another forum posted by my twin brother on the matter,,,,

Hore initially got 8 weeks but then it was downgraded to 5weeks cuz of his clean record throughOut his career, the remorse he showed(hes been in regular contact with Davies) and the judiciary believe that he had NO INTENT on injuring Davies in that manner, and so do i.......

Now what did Greyling get?? 2weeks?? Meh, why cuz Richie has a solid jaw and didnt get KO by a 120kg+ man flying at him with his forearm and elbow??? HT i didnt see you go on about that incident as much as you have about this one.......

Meh, mind you this ones closer to home and means more to us then the sh!t that Greyling did aye bro??? Has more of a impact on they way other nations perceive us, not only as a rugby playing nation but also as people..... Now what did Greyling get?? 2weeks?? Meh, why cuz Richie has a solid jaw and didnt get KO by a 120kg+ man flying at him with his forearm and elbow???.......

Clumsy, lazy or intentional it doesnt matter, cuz at the end of the day a man was hurt cuz another got it badly wrong.....

well said tapout, couldnt have said it better myself.

This has nothing to do with Greyling. Each incident is different, and has different outcomes.

Except for the first paragraph, it was poorly said. It's just Bringing up the Greyling incident which means you just have a bone to pick with SA's. Doesn't really have to do with what Hore did.

Its nice to see ou hahahakwa and his bird brained kiwi friend reduced to :( etc.

Top of the morning to you kiwis bird brains. Hore probably got the right sentnece in the end so stop complaining.

As for our player the Boks are clean rugby players. Take Burger for example - a finer sportsmen and gentelmen you will not find. That eye gouging incident was a complete farce. His fingers merely happened to brush that lions player sface and they squealed like babies for obvious reasons.

Bakkies was tough but not dirty. The Cowan head butr was also a farce Cowan was not hurt in the slightest. But compare this to Hore.

I have some doubt re intention by Hore but on balance think he could not get off scot free. Abs have cleaned up their act somewhat and if they would only now stop cheating they may one day join the respected rugby nations of the world like South Africa!

Beeno try hard to give the kiwi bird brains a worthwhile vision. - without  a vision the people perish etc.

I was saying the same thing about Hore, Beeno - here was Hore at his Saint-like best happily skipping to the next maul and then here comes that thug Davies at his interfering best running full tilt into Hore's innocent fists - Hore should have had his hand x-rayed and Davies should have been cited immediately.

Beeno Bakkies tough but not dirty????  Hore's hit is not called the" Bakkies Special" for nothing, do it dirty and from behind.  I hear Bakkies will soon be running an official training course on how to do it right. Stayed tuned.

Hakwa it may have been  a reflex movement in a moment of anger or simply him swinging his arm around to high or maybe deliberate. Jokes aside now - he is not known as a dirty player and my gut feeling is it was a mistake. However one cant set any precedents here and let him off. 5 weeks is probably fair enough.

Beeno the reasonable at work!

that's the problem Beeno mate, you've been too reasonable lately! Is something wrong? Do you have a fever? Is your "Safferness" (tongue in cheek mate so don't bite OK) mellowing with your advanced age? :-))
