The same English newspaper that named just three All Blacks in its top XV of 2014 appears to have had a change of heart about the men in black, naming six of them in its top 10 of the world's best current rugby union players.

The Telegraph attracted scorn when its senior rugby writer Mick Cleary named just Owen Franks, Aaron Smith and Jerome Kaino in its World XV.

It has now released its list of the top 100 current players, with the top places dominated by the All Blacks, with Richie McCaw - who they call the "greatest flanker of all time" - Kieran Read, Brodie Retallick and Julian Savea filling the top four spots.

Also in the top 10 are Dan Carter at number seven and Conrad Smith two places further back.

Just two English players - Manu Tuilagi (45) and Joe Launchbury (40) are in the top half.

The Telegraph's top 10

1) Richie McCaw (NZ)
2) Kieran Read (NZ)
3) Brodie Retallick (NZ)
4) Julian Savea (NZ)
5) Duane Vermeulen (South Africa)
6) Israel Folau (Australia)
7) Dan Carter (NZ)
8) Jonathan Sexton (Ireland)
9) Conrad Smith (NZ)
10) Willie le Roux (South Africa)

It's a contentious list, what on earth has Carter done in the past year to afford being placed in the Top Ten ? Unless it is simply for signing a deal for a profane amount of money ?
There are plenty of points to raise about the entire Top 100. Saffex certainly will disagree about the inclusion of Robshaw

hahahahahahahhahahahaahha very funny JW even if far from accurate as per usual. I am on record as warning the bulle about the Mighty Stormers and it was the result I expected.
I am now concerned about Cloudy's blues.  Will they arrive for the match!

I really do worry about people....a photo of Ritchie McCaw is hardly likely to brighten anyone's day outside the confines of NZ, JW !! We don't tend to worship the ground he cheats on like certain other folk do

Becs: "cheats" is such a prejudical word, I would rather look at stats, charisma, leadership, results

The so called "cheating" is managed by the refs & any fair-minded thinking person would say they are a little hard on Richie these days

Hmmmm.....well, if that passes for " charisma " in your neck of the woods then I am a little sorry for you !

No, they are finally Reffing correctly after all these years, it's been a long time coming and it should never have come to this really but you know, good things come to those who wait ! And patience is a virtue and all that....

McCaw no way, nor Conrad Smith for that matter....its been some time since Conrad made a big impression. At best solid these days, but is now the wrong side of 30.

Hooper of Oz should be there, as should Aron Smith.

Got to love the World 15 side chosen by the Telegraph.....talk about an insult to rugby. The side is dominated by NH players....dream on

Six from fifteen is not domination, my lovely  And I have no idea who O'Donnell or Laws are  I know O'Connell and Lawes though

As for your last statement, I'll try and ignore it....otherwise I might feel the urge to hunt you down and punch you in the face

I think this sums that pathetic selection up perfectly......

Perhaps ichall summed up the selection best: "The most rubbish selection of any team, in any sport, ever."

While Ed chimed in: "How do you continue to employ this man? A six year old could come up with a more accurate representation of the World's best XV!

No not really, it was more the audacity of the idiot that selected the side.......he must be one stupid prick.

I have seen some laughs in my time, but that team selections as the world 15 is the biggest joke yet.

Imagine picking Robshaw ahead of Hooper, McCaw, Coetzee and Warburton for a start...................GEEEEEEZ

Hmmmmm......we'll, let's see. Outplayed Hooper, Warburton, McCaw and I daren't say anything against your almighty Coetzee....so why is his inclusion so hysterically amusing ? I know you are so rabidly anti the poor man but really....
