 Apart from some cash and viewing numbers I'm struggling to see what SARU are bringing to the table from a rugby perspective.

The SA teams have been playing better rugby this year, not necessarily results wise though. Personally I don't mind some setbacks. As long as the bus is headed towards greener pastures. I think most agree.

We can't win taking on our opponents on their terms. Not unless we suddenly develop a host of backs weighing 110  kgs who can run the 100 metres in under 11 seconds. Look at  Folau vs our biggest back, Allende, yesterday. Bigger, faster, stronger, smarter. 
We have to craft a game plan that emphasizes our huge, fast loosies and locks. It doesn't have to be Stampkar or up and unders.

The Burger try was one of the few examples of a SA team crafting a breakthrough in the 22....vs bashing it or mauling it over. Play conservatively in your own half....the Lions showed us the folly of not doing that.

 Oh I dunno Denny....use the pace of Stepfontein? Nah, forget that. Focus on scrumming and lineout work again. Grind then down, extract penalties....kick it out in the 22. Then execute. Phase play inside our half has a negative return...more likely to lead to opposition points.

I guess the idea is to belt it downtown and then by some miracle to get it back....hasn't worked too well. Carter showed how it's done in that RWC semi with some clever kicking to get behind the Boks but that's another area in which we've declined. Besides,even when we get into the 22 we're still struggling to score tries.

 Well that's my point Denny. We need to work on the inside 22 attack. We bash it up with forward pods one step off the last ruck....and mostly don't get across the chalk. The maul is our best weapon....and even that is much better defended these days. Look at that cut Folau pulled off against the Stormers....why can't we do that.
I'm not saying don't run the ball. But if we can't make that work inside the 22, doing it inside our half with the opposition defence  in place is going to simply lose games.
