Is out of the Lions Tour with a dislocated shoulder.

He will be substituted ASAP.

Luke Cowan Dickie was knocked out in the Prem Final today but should be fit to travel.

Not ideal preparation to have the captain out of the tour before it even starts.

Connor Murray is a surprise pick to be the replacement captain. He was the best 9 in the game about 4 years ago, but his form has not been as good in recent years. So much so I would not think his starting spot was assured.

I know Japan is a stronger  side than they used to be  - they even ebat the Meyer Springboks in the WC in 2015, which actually was againsta foolish lot of players way past their best - they did end up being top fo their log after beating both Ireland and Scotland in the round robin stage of WC 2019.
The fact is the Lions team in a warming test played the Japanese and beat them by 28-10  - which to my mind was not as wide a margin as I thought it would have been.   For the Lions to  really impress the margin should have been about 12 to 16 points more.
Al;wyn Jones will soon be 36 years old and is not the player he used to be 5 years ago.   .

So you assert to be impressive a top team should beat Japan by 30 to 34 points….18 plus 12 to 16.

So you agree then that Erasmus’ win over Japan by a mere 23 points, without having the recent traveling and injuries that no doubt affected the Lions…..was not impressive.

Beeno, AWJ isn’t the best we have to offer but Gatland appreciates his leadership abilities. He’s still not a bad player but I agree there are better options that were overlooked.

Mizart

I do not agree with your shit at all.    In the game leading up to the WC the Springboks beat the Japanese by 36 points and  this is a lead-up game to the Lions tour.   A bit of thinking before writing tripe is advised.

He was chosen as the skipper of the Lions squad for the following reasons I would suggest.

1. Has Lions experience with two tours under his belt. Plus he did          skipper a test against the Aussies in one Lions test.

2. Is a great skipper in the selectors view and he has worked with          AWJ for 12 years I think as the Wales head coach.

3. He is a great team leader and has lifted his Wales squad on              numerous occasions when the chips were down,

4. Sure he is 35 plus but can any of you critics recall how good           you were at 35?

5. He has always earned his place with determination and ability        plus the natural gift of being able to lead.

He is going to be missed on the Lions tour to RSA.

Pity for all us Springbok supporters and a greater pity that he will miss the honor that he deserves as a great rugby player and leader.

Get well AJW and looking forward to seeing you in the Wales coaching team in the future.

But you agree the actual World Cup win was not that impressive. Actually we don’t need your concurrence, just your ‘logic’ that a 23 point win is a nothing burger.

Alun Whine Jones will be 36 in September.

Its a blessing this has been ou is out and a real lock with some fire can be chosen for the wee lions.  Its called past sell date.

Somebody might now say its same story as wee matfiled. But wee victor was NEVER any good, What a monumental loafer.

And don't tell me there is no other leader who can do the job for the Lions. That is as daft as saying we would be lost without Siya at the helm.

However I can assure you that if the Lions lose the series it will because they missed Alun Whine Jones. Such is life today.
