The following from News24:-
“It was a case of “good and bad news” in the Springbok camp on Monday.
The good news first: lock Pieter-Steph du Toit rejoined Allister Coetzee’s squad at the team’s first afternoon training session of the week ahead of the start of the three-test series against Ireland‚ after being given an all-clear by the national team’s medical staff.
Just last week indications were that the lock would be out of action for at least three weeks due to a troublesome hamstring.
Miraculously‚ team doctor Konrad von Hagen announced that Du Toit had made quicker-than-expected recovery from the strain.
“Pieter-Steph has been recovering well and he has been cleared to take part in our training sessions from Monday‚” Von Hagen said.
The Stormers second-rower is likely to be roped into Coetzee’s starting XV in the Boks’ opening match of the international season against the Irish at Newlands Stadium on Saturday where he will partner with provincial teammate Eben Etzebeth.
More good news: the side breathed another sigh of relief after utility prop Trevor Nyakane and centre Lionel Mapoe were also cleared to play this week after recovering from a shoulder injury and back spasm‚ respectively.
The bad news: centre Jan Serfontein will miss out entirely on taking part in the incoming series after it was confirmed yesterday after the Bulls’ midfielder underwent scans in Cape Town on Monday.
The diagnosis was that he has fractured a scaphoid bone in his wrist which will rule him out for four months.”
We all know Mozart cannot stand Du Toit - so he must still be in shock about the above .
