It has previously been reported that the former Lions wing will not be eligible for selection before 12 August 2023, but he can start training before the end of his ban.

He is only eligible to play around 1 month before the first world cup match, so almost certain he will miss the tournament.
Having a convicted steroid drug cheater is probably not great for the brand of the Boks- especially with what happened with Chillyboy Rapelle, who was again convicted for the same offence.

He is about to start training with the Sharks...

I hope he gets back into the swing of things, as his actual rugby ability in his last season of super rugby was excellent. He and Mapimpi were the premier wings in SA by quite some distance. He didn't need to cheat to be a great Bok.

Fortunately for him we are in a state of flux at the moment, where older players are in need of replacement, but the next gen aren't quite there. Especially on the wing, where actual rugby ability will easily beat out the track runners like Arendse, Moodie, and Fassi.

Just some conspiracy laden speculation... Is he perhaps just one of many in that Lions team that were caught doping? A bunch of no namers that obliterated anyone in their path for a good few seasons. Has any other team from SA done that in living memory? An anomaly for sure. And when you look at how they won. Eating punches and then dominating the last 30 minutes as though they were completely fresh. It's known that they had a work ethic like no other but in the professional era everybody is extremely fit. These guys were running over AD sides in the second half like they weren't there. Roids is certainly one answer to the question of how. What do we reckon? Again, I'm speculating and i don't think the Lions were juiced.

Past it? 27 is when a man reaches full maturity in physical development. Considering his body hasn't been battered the past couple of years, he should be in good condition.

Do you oaks remember another player that got banned. Herkie Kruger. Was doing well as flyhalf, think for the cheetahs and was on the bok radar. Then got busted and received a 2 year ban. He never made his way back.

That was 2 years, he has been out for 4 years.

Too late to try and make it back now.

It is really sad though, both him and Nkosi were setting the world alight. Then Fassi also came along but haven't really reached his full potential.

So we have 3 really talented black players that never kicked on.

Just imagine having a backline , and when they are in form

Apiwe, fassi, Nkosi, similane, am

Real threat, but they are squandering their talent

Yes the odds are stacked against him, but if his will power is in any way as good as his Rugby, he might still make it…let, s see what happens.

He has the talent, but he is going to have to work. Nobody said it would be easy, but he can do it if he applies himself.

As per Fassi, and Similane? They are not Bok material. The latter is grossly overrated.

Similane is not squandering his talent it’s just useless Jake that’s not investing in him The man instead invests in either Hendricks then and Gans now Fassi is pure class but was sent back to the Sharks to work on his defence. He will be back with the Boks sooner than later - post WC Nkosi is another Luke Watson wasting his talent with external shit

Similane is a poor man's Kriel. Very poor. I've gone over some of this myth's nonsense.

Erasputin has been so long with the Boks he has taught them to accept tripe.
