Australia realizes they have now been duped by New Zealand into leaving Super Rugby to become part of a YMCA upgrade of the NPC. https://www.sarugbymag.co.za/aus-nz-divided-over-trans-tasman-future/

Initially, New Zealand Just wanted 2-3 Australian teams to join the 2.0 NPC, with no regard at all for Australian rugby.
It is clear that New Zealand is calling all the shots in the YMCA, probably getting the best schedule. The Ozzie teams are just punchbags to make up the numbers.

Viewership of the new tournament is down, and there is very little interest outside of New Zealand.

New Zealand stabbed everyone in the back and ruined Super Rugby. They got overexcited by the performance of their teams, and insisted on having the most teams- which made travel harder for other countries.

The implosion of Super Rugby is a tragedy. The old Super 12 competition was one of the best multinational sporting contests. It’s a shame that National ego and greed have deprived rugger fans of this best  of club contests .

They simply don't have 5 teams  or any teams that can compete against the kiwis.

I've also noticed a massive presence of south sea islanders in the ausie teams.

But the most funniest Ausie logic and which is the same logic that that screwed up the super rugby is to have the top team of each country  in the final.

How on earth does that work. So you you only win 2  out of 25 agains NZ  teams but expect to go to the final. Beyond believe

Well, hope we can get our local  teams ready for northern  hemisphere rugby and possible European championships.

I would  still  prefer Super rugby but it was never  a fair contest,  only when it was the super 10

There was a time when Super rugby was only marginally off test level. Thats was a very long time ago. Not only greed for money and poor formating, but also the use of law changes to create a flaccid aesthetic (this was when reffing deteriorated, as policing style was more important to applying the laws). In the end, the quality fell away quite markedly. The last credible season I ever saw was somewhere around 2010 and 2012.

Well, I think they messed up when they  were trying to keep the ball in play more often and got rid of the 22 touch finders. But we still  see the same amount of kicking, if not more with more up and under and not to  mention more players getting carded for poor timing

The also messed up the ruck which meant that players  could put their hands in and only concede  a free kick.

I think the marketing guys need to be less obsessive with ball in play and allow  for  more first phases as that  is the most interesting of rugby,  not this  touch rugby  nonsense.

We used to produce players that fitted into a position; now we have generic players with inferior skills who can't quite pin down a position. Is Damian and Serf a 12 or 13? Do we have wings or scrumhalves playing 9? Is he a flank or a lock? It's shocking how few players can pass. Faf is our premier 9, and he is only a disruptor who can't kick or pass accurately. All but one of our 9s are a lot worse than even that. The aim is to run, without an emphasis on fundamentals. Now even NZ are suffering the consequences.

Yes Kingcorn, the 22 touch finders were better than all the up and under that now dominate the game- making it more like league. (but with less phase play).

Kicking out near the 22 suits a tactical flyhalf that can play a mix of 10-man kicking and 15-man rugby. It makes territory more important than what it has become now.

Even with 2 out of 25 wins - The aussies would want 2 in the final.

They can find as many excuses as they like - But there is only 1 real reason.

With fair refs and a proper system the Super Rugby comp could have been fine.
