South African lock Bakkies Botha may push back his playing retirement until November next year because of the Rugby World Cup.

In order to help out Toulon while their players are away at the tournament in England, the veteran second row may postpone his end-of-season retirement date according to Rugbyrama.

Botha's retirement from Test rugby was announced following South Africa's win over Italy last month.

The 35-year-old had confirmed that he hoped to win more trophies with Toulon before the end of the current domestic campaign, but he may now be around for a little longer.

Toulon could lose second row Georgia star Konstantin Mikautadze along with France pair Jocelino Suta and Romain Taofifénua depending on call-ups for the tournament next year.

No it means he will play so as to cover while his club members play in the WC. He has retired from test rugby.

 He produced zero since his return to test rugby - so what will he produce next year?   This is a bad state of affairs - Meyer grovelling at his feet pleading for a return.   What the hell is wrong in SA rugby - or better still what is right?   The list of wron gs will be covering a book - the rights about 2 sentences.

Hopefully Meyer won't be able to coax him out of retirement.

Then again ... he already has a number of chumps in his squad ... I'm sure there's room enough for another.
