Another controversial TMO decision has come to the fore in Super Rugby.

The Chiefs' opening try against the Blues has been called into question, with halfback Brad Weber appearing to be in touch as he delivered a try-producing pass to prop Mitchell Graham.

The incident was too close to call in real time, with Weber releasing the ball as he was dragged into touch by Blues skipper Jerome Kaino.

However, a screenshot appears to show Weber's foot in touch with the ball still in his hands.

Prominent referee Jonathan Kaplan tweeted the photo, with a critical view of the incident.

Television Match Official Shane McDermott argued that he could not determine whether Weber was definitively in touch, so awarded the try.

Blues fans took a dim view of the decision.

The decision gave the Chiefs a 5-0 lead and they went on to win the match 29-23.

 I watched again the match and this picture is not what the TMO saw,....... in the game's footage that the TMO saw the assistant ref's leg didn't let see Weber's foot on the line,....... seems that kaplan is going too far,..... against his former fellows

They are supposed to show all angles on TV in the case of a try being scored under such circumstances, but I agree that angle was not shown on TV.  I am sure that the TMO would have ruled otherwise if he saw that angle as well.
I am still very doubtful about the Cane early-tackle issue - which Moolaa agreed with me was questionable.  However, one must accept that referees are human and they do make mistakes,

but with the footage shown to the TMO I would have awarded the try also,..... there wasn't any clear evidence of Weber's foot on the line,...... and to post that the " TMO is a joke" is quite harsh,...... more if coming from a former ref

 Bit conflicted being a Chiefs supporter but out it is .Given that the TMO works off what he is given .Kaplan trying to stay relevant I see ,many of his former peers are none too happy with his constant sniping .

Funny how the Blues coach found it within himself to NOT enter the tmo's room and start abusing him

Tana Umaga might be a bit more imposing than Gold too !Well maybe the coaches all drew straws to see who can be git of the week,

Gold & Cheika were already in the TMO booth screeming their heads off & they're are so fat their was no room for Tana 

 Tana would have to do a bit of a cleanout to get at the TMO past those two eh ?
