Good team Beeno.
I think your "wishful thinking" candidates are Kriel at 15, Willemse at 5, Labbers at 7, Faf at 9. Not saying right or wrong, but they won't be selected as starters. Labbers, Kriel, Faf may not even make the touring squad, especially with the quotas in play and Willemse being an overseas player may not get serious consideration.
Kitshoff and Koch must be giving Meyer lots to think about, especially if their form continues for the remainder of the S15. It would certainly be a "big" call to replace Beast and Bissie although certainly some would say an easy one. Will be interesting to see what happens
LeRoux at 15 and Matfield at 5 are almost certain locks for selection. Don't see Meyer doing anything different there.
Love the call for Strauss at hooker - he has been better than Bismarck for a year and a half. Set pieces always seem to do better with him.

Steppie is toothless. We have watched this guy for two seasons now and we are still waiting for the first centre break where he isn't running past props.

Dave
I tend to agree with Beeno here. De Allende would create space for Serfontein to operate in - something that Serfontein would not be able to do to a similar extent at 12 .
I have no problem with Serfontein at 13 where he would be much more dangerous than he would be at 12. I would not be surprised if Meyer does go for the center combination as suggested by Beeno.
16 Mar 2015, 18:40#8
Saff - define "creative". What stat would best show creativity - offloads, defenders beaten, line breaks, line breaks created, try assists? You can't say none - thats not an option
16 Mar 2015, 20:43#10
Bring on de Allende for the Boks. Can't tackle and goes missing when the pressure goes on! JDV if fit is still a class above any other midfielder in SA.

If Frans Steyn plays I would like to see him tackle Cruden.
Pollart at 10 and Frans Steyn at 12, and poor wee Cruden would need a nappy.
He was scared to tackle Pollard close to the line, but facing those two on back foot ball and he is not going to like it.

Well said mike agreeing with beeno is always a wise move!
The guy who gets things humming is Faf. The most dynamic scrummie in world rugby right now. All he needs is experience.
Kriel will be more solid at 15. Willie can spark things on the wing and by slipping into the flyhalf role on occassions. DevastatingThe wee abs wouldny know what hit them. The pack I picked would flatten them and the backs would rip em!!! If only Meyer had the necessary vision. But he will doubtless plod on with wee matfiled, plead for bakkies to come back and be over the moon re the return of spiesies - bwhahahahahaha funny but sad.
Frans has a great deal to prove. I wish him well but he must not walk into a Bok team on reputation. Has he got any gas. How good is his work ethic/contribution.
Quotas are a big problem because with the f ading of Beast and JP its looking more and more like a white team if picked on merit.
16 Mar 2015, 23:38#14
Nice try Beeno but A Smith is the best half back in the world. Be jealous! . You always talk about the the Boks pack flattining the abs pack. But consistently year in and year out since 2011, its been the other way around!

Is Beeno1 related to Beeno?
For some strange reason Beeno1 is always praising Beeno. I hope this is not some kind of in-bred thing.

Apparently Matfield is going to be in the back-line at the world cup for the Boks instead of Jean. Matfield is allready the attack coach at the Bulls and he wants the same at the Springboks.

Fransie was totally out-played when facing De Allende and just about average against Venter - so suddenly he is the top no 12 according to our resident no 1 BS spreader. What makes him so? His stats were as follows:-
Against the Stormers
Steyn0/002/4/6700228/20/031/0
This according to Mozart is magnificent stuff fit for the Springbok team:-
* Six carries making hay by gaining 7 magnificent meters* Two off-loads - can it get any better - definitely not* Only two missed tackles out of 8 attempts - wonderful performance* Only three penalties given away - the stuff legends are made of* And a yellow card - what is wrong with people for criticizing that - they are most ungrateful - a red card would have mean even a greater achievement.
Against the Cheetahs
Steyn1/051/5/61902114/20/010/0
This according to Mozart is magnificent stuff fit for the Springbok team:-
* Scoring his first try in Super 15 since his return from Racing Metro In April 2012 - what a massive performance* Six carries making hay by gaining 19 magnificent meters - beating all of 2 defenders - that happens to be 25% compared to defenders beaten during the whole of 2014 Super 15 - definitely a huge improvement.
* One off-load - can it get any better - definitely not* Only 2 missed tackles out of 6 attempts - wonderful performance* Only 1 penalties given away - the stuff legends are made of
The above from the village idiot who has never said a positive thing about Jan Serfontein. Now lets see what happened when Serfontein played against the same opponent as Steyn in the match between the Bulls and the Cheetahs the previous week:-
Serfontein1/050/6/623021211/30/000/0
According to Mozart Serfontein's performance was deplorable:-
* He scored only one try - how bad can things get?* He carried the ball six times and made only 23 meters in the process - really poor* Beating two defenders only - that really is poor.* And one-ball off-load - can it get worse - definitely not* Serfonmtein is poor in defense - he missed 3 tackles in 14 attempts by him - what a mess.
From the above it is clear why our resident village idiot is such a biased fool in his assessment of players and now - after a poor performance the week before and a rather average one last week against a weak team - Steyn is the answer for the Springboks at 12.
If I was not in a charitable mood I would have used harsh words to deal with the idiotic assessment of Mozart and his suggestion that Steyn should be the o 12 in the Springbok team.

Can wait to see the end of matfiled and the building of a proper tight five and pack as a whole.
Matfied has buggered things up for a decade.
By the way snapster cut out the bull. matfield never was more than 108kg. He himself said his best weight was between 106 and 108 kg.
Your 113g is a figment of your imagination. He never ever reached those weights. He was always a pap lightweight who pulled the wool over the eys of many a rugby fan.A few months after stopping rugby he was down to 102 kg and it was feared he was too light. The wee abs wont know what has hit them when a decent Bok pack is picked. Some great youngsters coming through.
No pick my backline as well and with a fair competent ref the wee abs stand little chance of winning.I have to insist on having a fair competent ref as even if you have, for example, a good front row, illegal scrumming (eg by Croquette) will give the nz side a huge and undeserved advantage.

i like these name ur team threads, i have a few new inclusions i would like to see in the Boks tthis year after watching the 2015 spXV so far....
uchiha clan Bok XV...
1 s kitshoff, 2 a strauss (c), 3 c oosthuizen
4 lady elizabeth, 5 l de jager
6 m coetzee, 7 n carr, 8 d vermeulen
9 f hougaard, 10 h pollard
12 j serfontein, 13 d de allende
11 j kreil, 15 w le roux, 14 c hendricks
16 bizzy, 17 beast, 18 v koch, 19 j du plesiss, 20 w whittley, 21 c reinach, 22 p lambie, 23 c van wyk
i didnt select stephanie du toit cos last i heard hes gone for the season, but had he been available, lood would have gon to the bench and j du plessis would bump out whittley to cover the bench.
i also only selected players who play their rugby in SA, some are leaving after the RWC, but imo thats all good, its selecting over seas players which IMO is a practise which is weakning SA club rugbvy teams.

Sasue
Du Toit's injury was not as serious as they originally feared it might have been and he is scheduled for a lay-off until early or mid June - he may even play in the last few rounds in Super 15, even though i doubt whether Meyer would allow that to happen. He is bound to be in the squad for the RC and if no further problems arise will be available for the WC.

Sasuke San: glad you are back with advice & guidance for our SABBS (South African bird brains). There are weaknesses in several positions, eg inside backs (10 is ok), outside backs; & lock. . Glad Moz is offering words of wisdom re wee Matfield. There is the other problem, ie the identity crisis of the team (are they a 10 man rugby team or are they capable of more?). Also glad to see you have had some influence on beeno1 (& hopefully Beeno as well). Glad to see he now portrays himself in overalls ).

I know Sasue likes Carr very much - but Coetzee is a far better performer. Looking at SA players only and two foreign-based players only - my team wopuld look like the following:-
15 Jesse Kriel14 Willie le Roux13 Jan Serfontein12 Damian de Allende11 Bryan Habana10 Handre Pollard 9 Cobus Reinach 8 Duane Vermeulen 7 Pieter Labuschagne 6 Marcel Coetzee 5 Pieter-Steph du Toit 4 Eben Etzebeth 3 Vincent Koch 2 Adriaan Struass 1 Tendai Ntawarire
16 Armand van der Merwe17 Coenie Oosthuizen18 Trevor Nyakane19 Lood de Jager20 Nizaam Carr21 Francois Hougaard22 Patrick Lambie23 JP Pietersen
Unfortunately the race issue will trump that team - and we can expect much worse. Please note no Du Plessis and no Matfield - time to move on from those. Armand van der Merwe is going to be a better hooker than any of the present hookers have ever been.
