Ok, so we have the bok squad, now the question is, who will be captain? I think there is a fairly good chance that Strauss will be captain. Louw and Vermeulen are not locally based, so it is my understanding that that excludes them. Kriel and Whitely have little or no international experience, so that won't do. Lambie is a maybe, but so is his spot in the team, because lets face it, he has to be behind both Pollard and Jantjes in the injury free pecking order, so I guess that means he is not really an option. Etzebeth is a possibility because he is almost certain of his spot in the team, but he has no real captaincy experience.
Of course Strauss being captain would throw the cat among the pigeons as far as the other quota hookers in the squad are concerned, but to my mind there really isn't anyone else!

As far as I could make out the Springbok captain will be selected for the Irish games only and a permanent selection will be made subsequently.  My longer term bet is Pollard - but I think he will have to forget about the Meyer era and start playing positive rugby like he did in his Under 20 career.  Meyer tried to change him into a Morne Steyn mould and complicated his life by using forwards as stand-in flyhalfs - so he has  chance to get back his talented game potential.

given the quota requirements how about beast or bongi or kolisi or paige etc. We have zuma as a president so why not!

I guess Beast is a possibility, but he has pretty much done nothing as captain of the Sharks.

I am not suggesting beast is a good captain.I would go for strauss.

Beast or Stauss would be my bet. Whiteley is fantastic but is he an automatic selection, we don't know AC's peferences for his style of play for his loosies so for me it is not clear that he is an automatic selection. He could go for Etzabeth, he would certainly set a tone of toughness of old but can he be disciplined & keep a cool head?
