Everyone has been saying it, what happens when plan A does not work, basically when the opposition win the ariel battle? Once the up and under's are nullified, what happens then?
The Boks were fortunate to win the Lions series, with the Lions the better team in the 1st and 3rd test. Basic errors by the Lions in the 1st half stopped the Lions putting the game beyond reach in the 3rd test.
An average Australian team was prepared for the Boks up and under game. When the backs did run, it was mostly poor passing. The rolling maul was the only attacking threat, and it seemed ludicrous to kick for poles when setting up a lineout drive was an almost certain score.
I think it is time to give Delande a rest. He is not getting over the advantage line, and Willemse would give the Boks more attacking edge. Having another play maker at 12 would give the Boks more options.
Bok Plan A exposed, with no Plan B
Ummm ... Zuma's Goats has never had a plan B.
Not under Jake, nor under Snorre, Meyer, Coetzee, Fat Rassie or his puppet.
DuhLundy has never been up to scratch as a test anything. He's as useless as Quota Kolisi and Elton Jantjies. There are only a handful of players worthy of the Goats.
Plan A did work: kick, maul and get penalties. Pollard was poor with his place kicking and the Wallabies survived more biased reffing in favour of the Boks. The problem was that the plan wasn't very good. The plan was never very good. It's a scrape the bottom of the barrel concept which has been kept afloat by biased reffing.
Their needs to be more phase play, and backline moves, with forwards linking with backs.
Maybe not long backline movements given some of the passes today, but something - like cutting back inwards to the blindside winger.
Something to keep the defence guessing.
No plan A or B net op and onder.
No getting away from it being boring and a waste of time following.
The AB's are going to thump these guys.....bigtime.
Dragged back metres at a time. Esterhuizen stopped Kerevi in his tracks every time without support and shutdown the entire Wallaby attack with his pressure play. Damian was effortlessly brushed aside. Was ineffective in pretty much everything he did.
You don't need the numbers. You just need to look at Lood crying off after Kerevi bust his shoulder to know who was the influential midfielder on the day.
Kerevi dragged Damian back with ease. It wasn't even close. Stats show that one player was effective, the other not. Kerevi didn't just rip through the Bok's paper thin line, he brought other Wallabies into the game. Surely the best 12 in the game at present, whilst Damian isn't even top 10 in South Africa.
