Lineouts, rucks, and individual errors have been the main problems this season, and possibly combinations caused by the over-rotation of players
Hendrik Wesells needs a chance to start at hooker to see if he can solve the lineout woes, with Marx on the bench. Nortje is used to Wessels at the Bulls, so playing them both as starters might help. However, Snyman needs another chance, at least off the bench.
- Ox Nche / Boan Venter (I am not convinced of Boan Venter, we might need a prop that contributes outside scrum)
- Jan-Hendrik Wessels / Marx (Marx needs a new arm, or to learn his own calls)
- Wilco Louw/ Thomas du Toit (Thomas is better off the bench when the game opens up)
- Eben Etzebeth
- Ruan Nortje / Lood de Jager (Might have gone for Synman, as the bench option. Snyman needs more game time to get back into test form).
- Marco Van Staden (The only specialist open sider in the squad. Not the ideal player)
- Pieter-Steph du Toit
- Jasper Wiese. / Kwagga Smith (Might have started Kwagga, but Wiese brings physicality)
- Williams/ Faff (Might have started Faff, but he has not played much for the Boks in a while)
- Sacha Feinberg / Pollard (Might have chosen Libbok as the bench option)
- Aphelele Fassi (He is good on attack, but there are question marks on his defence at XV)
- Andre Esterhuizen / Hooker (Something new from Delande)
- Jesse Kriel (Not many other options, and it would unsettle combinations dropping him)
- Canan Moodie (Might not have enough pace as an international wing, and defence is sometimes an issue
- Cheslin Kolbe (Boks have had some serious problems at XV this year on defence.
Playing Kolbe at XV could create some places to bring in other attacking players on the wing.
