If I look at the Currie Cup log, it seems that the Bulls are on the brink of missing next years Currie Cup. If they lose to the Cheetahs this weekend, which is entirely possible, I don't think they will be able to lift themselves from last on the log before the end of the season. In fact, it is actually very likely they will end at the bottom of the log. That will mean they'll have to play a playoff game against the Kings to retain their spot in next years Currie Cup. At first thought, it would seem to be a given that the Bulls would walk such a play-off game, but they'll be playing against a Kings side that is basically going to be ready for Super Rugby, after buying countless players. Especially based on the Bulls performances so far this year, they could well lose out to the Kings in such a scenario.

Can you imagine that, a Currie Cup with no Bulls?

Very true Bluebok. This kings side is also on a roll. If you have a look at the First Divisio log you will notice they are smashing everything in their path. they have a points difference of of more than 200 points in their favour. Dominating two teams that played in the currie Cup last year. the bulls should really be carefull.

I am too lazy to go and research it, but in the last 100 years, I am reasonably certain the Bulls have taken part in every Currie Cup so far..... How did they fall from grace so quickly? From S14 Champs two years ago, to fighting a losing battle for a place in the Currie cup?

These things happen take a look at what happened to Eastern province. They fell until they were the weekest team in south africa. Now only are they again building up.

remember the days when Frans Erasmus, Danie Gerber, Garth Wright and those guys played for EP. But i doubt the bulls will fall that far. they will come back, this is not as bad as you might think :)

They might beat the Free State this weekend and then Free State go on a 3 match losing streak ending bottom of the log in the CC and the Kings beat them.

You never know.

It would be really interesting, but I think that the bulls will probably have enough figher power to keep the Kings down. Although I believe that it is realy stupid to have a play-off game. The team should just automatically be relegated.

How can a lower league team compete, especially if they don't have the players to compete at this level.

I believe that once a team earn their promotion, they should be allow the oppertunity to compete. Especially with the smaller format. We may see many more big teams get relegated in the future.
