The most pleasing aspect of this match was watching the Bulls centre pair run the show. I have said from day one that they have the makiings of the best pair in SA and they showed that today. The played with the Kings defence.

The score could have been higher had a few more touches gone to hand. All the Bulls were good, in particular Serfontein, JJ Engelbrecht, Morne, Vermaak, Chiliboy, Spies and Arno Botha.

The Kings tried hard but were no match for the Bulls who closed the game out in the first half

JJ is the best 13 in SA, hopefully he'll be in the next Bok training camp!

snapster JJ is steadily improving at center. He has speed, a bit of a step and his tackling is coming on. He also benefits from playing with possibly the most creative center in the country - Jan Serfontein. Meyer will be watching these two with interest.

Morne again had a very solid day and there was more egg for his detractors. Louis Fouche shows promise and has a great boot. Vermaak was again very good in rendering a sound all round display and showed he was worth his sqaud selection.

How the bulle dont strat with Arno boggles the mind. Spies was again average and I cannot see how he can make a Bok side roving role or not. He is way down the pecking order.

Kings made a fatal mistake starting with the very ordinary Luke Watson. Looks like they will have to drop their captain. Solomon has to make an unpopular(Re Cheeky) choice.Play him off the bench as an impact player -say he coming back from injury.

Chilli boy had a better game but is not remotely in Liebenbergs class - bigger stronger faster and more dynamic hooker.

Ex Keo

The Bulls gave the Kings a Super Rugby lesson in Port Elizabeth in winning 34-0.

The Kings, victors against the Rebels in Melbourne a week ago, were never in this match and they were taken apart from the opening minute.

The old boys of the tournament were being questioned and they responded in style.

It was men against boys physically.

I was among those who picked the Kings to cause an upset (KEO), as did many in the 45 949 crowd, but the Bulls silenced all believers of a Kings miracle within five minutes.

They scored two tries in the first 20 minutes and the only surprise of the evening was that they went 55 minutes before scoring again.

The Kings would have felt they had claimed a second half moral victory in keeping the Bulls tryless until the 75th minute, but it would have been an injustice to the Bulls performance had they not got the four-try bonus point.(Bulle very lucky to get that last try - kings could have kicked the ball out)

They got a bit of good fortune in scoring the bonus point try through a Kings turnover in the tackle with less than a minute to go, but 30-plus points was a fairer reflection than the 20-nil lead.

The Bulls, man for man, were superior in everything they did. The Kings could not cope with the Bulls physicality and mongrel. This was a case of the older kid putting the young newcomer in his place emphatically.

The Kings offered nothing in the first half, but credit to the Bulls for not allowing the home team to get a sniff. And by not giving the hosts any early momentum they also silenced the home crowd advantage.

This was the Bulls best performance of the season and the first 40 minutes was second only to the opening 40 produced by the Brumbies against the Sharks in Durban. (Brumbies played a better side - lets keep some perspective)

The Bulls pack bossed and monstered the home team and with the possession halfbacks Jano Vermaak and Morne Steyn controlled how and where the game would be played.

Steyn was superb with his tactical kicking and the match as a contest was over within 20 minutes.

The Bulls young centre pairing of Jan Serfontein and JJ Engelbrecht did as they pleased against a hesitant home team defence and Serfontein was named man of the match.
