Burger injured

It appears Burger is out of the June test series with a foot injury. I am sure that little bit of news is going to have a few people crowing!! 

 Injuries are all a part of the elderly sportsmen.
He should call it a day and open up a coffee shop somewhere.

 While I am a great Burger fan I think its time to start building a new Bok side.Get well soon Schalk!

Not nearly in good enough form to be considered for the Tests 

 In a recent interview Kohli said he believe that AB de Villiers is the best batsman in world cricket, but he is as a human being a better person than he is as a cricketer.  The same can be said about Schalk Burger from a human being perspective.  One can only hope that he recovers from his injury soon. 
 From a rugby performance perspective Meyer ruined Burger's reputation by using him as the stand-in flyhalf in the WC and an objective perspective he was sub-standard in that competition.
He was not much better as loosie of the Stormers this year - the loosie combination of the Stormers was just not good enough and it is clear that his career is getting to be near the end.   His last chance to play for the Springboks was likely to be the upcoming Irish series.   He is moving on to play NH club rugby after the present Super Rugby series and is unlikely to be a future selection as a Springbok.

The Springboks chances of winning the test series against Ireland have just improved dramatically.

 I wonder if Luke Watson could be an alternative.......waaaaaahahaha for 13 years a fool on this site has been wrong about Schalk, our World Player of the Year.

Schalk was good after his comeback but has been poor this season

Schalk has lost some of his physical presence the last few years....which he offset with some clever offloads. This year that hasn't really come off. So he does some useful things but overall doesn't have the same effect on the game.
Great player, heart of oak I have a lot of respect for this man. We were going to cricket at Newlands one morning and Schalk was standing outside the ground yakking it up with some cops like long lost buddies. You can't fake those moments.
One of the greats, but we may not see him in green and gold again.

 Agreed Moz. He seems to be a bitt off his form of pre RWC last year. Still a valuable asset for the Stormers. We will strugle to replace him and it's a pity we won't see him one last time in a Bok jersey at Newlands. I'm going to the Ireland test June 11. Would have loved to see him in action.

 An Alblack test at Newlands! I've had the pleasure of an Ausie and Frogg test at Newlands and a Currie Cup final. The French test was the loss prior to 2007's RWC, but I was able to get Box tickets for my late father and brother too. It was my father's second match attendance at Newlands and his first test. Good memory. His other Newlands match was the Stormers against the Canes on a Friday evening, but that was regular stand tickets....still was memorable enough.
