The Chiefs 40-16 record thumping of the Crusaders could have come with a price as Brodie Retallick could be out of action for some time with a suspected AC shoulder joint injury.

The Chiefs scored five tries against the Crusaders for the first time in their Super Rugby history and laid down a marker with their clinical performance but Retallick could be out for two months as a result.

Retallick was forced to leave the field in Hamilton after being being driven back in a double tackle by Matt Todd and Wyatt Crockett after just 10 minutes of play and was replaced by Johan Bardoul.

Chiefs coach Dave Rennie confirmed that Retallick has a suspected AC joint but the extent of the damage remains unknown.

Rennie says that if the injury is serious there is the potential for the 2014 World Rugby Player of the Year to be out of action for two months.

Sorry JW haha.

Pity about the injury to Retallick - that will damage the chances of the Chiefs massively. They will be coming to SA soon and will have major problems in their forwards - more so without him.

No worries Mike, we saw what the Chiefs could do without him (70 minutes of the game last weekend). It will also mean he is not over-worked which was starting to be a risk last season.

No doubt he will come back bigger and stronger & continue to man-handle to SA forwards
