Try-scoring Chiefs prop Sona Taumalolo is off to France after signing a three-and-a-half-year deal with Perpignan.

The 30-year-old Tongan international, who plays domestic rugby for Hawke's Bay, has scored eight tries for the Chiefs this season helping them to the top of the Super Rugby table.

"I'm looking forward to seeing what French rugby is really like," Taumalolo said.

He told the club's website he had heard good things about the Catalan club and its fans from fellow Tongan international prop Kisi Pulu.

The French Top 14 side are in a rebuilding phase after the 2010 champions finished 11th this season.

Good on the big fulla =- still afew more trys left to score yet this season...

Kiwi wins first up

Kiwi motorcyclist Bruce Anstey has won the first race in the Supersport category of the famous Isle of Man TT (Tourist Trophy), his ninth win at the event in 10 years.

Anstey, whose first win at the 105-year-old race came in 2002, won this year's first race by just 0.77 seconds over Australian Cameron Donald.

The first Superbike race was won by TT legend John McGuinness who recorded his 19th win in Ireland with Donald coming in second and Anstey third.

The results mean Anstey is now in second place in the TT Championship with 54 points, followed by Donald on 46 and trailing McGuinness on 63.

Anstey has had great success at the historic motorbike event and is seventh-equal for all time wins with nine.

The second Supersport and Superbike races will be held on June 6 with the final senior race to conclude the event on June 8.

Brycy

It is standard practice with those players in international teams - who get to over 30 years of age - to sign up with French, English, irish and Japanese clubs for massive amounts of money to play club rugby.     In any event the demands at club level are not as strenuous is the case is in Super 15 or on international level.     Good luck to them - at least they could as a result live in luxury for the rest of their lives if they invest the money well

Bean Brain, the Isle of Man TT race is the race... more than 200 riders have been killed there so it's not for the faint hearted.
