Condolences to the loved ones of the hostages that died in the Sydney Siege

Our prayers to the loved ones of those who lost their lives in the Lyndt Cafe Siege, Marlin Place, Sydney.

 The one lady gave her life to shield a pregnant woman. I see dark days ahead for extremists in Ozz. Ausies tend to take these things personal and rightly so.

This really was a disaster and the loss of two lives is really tragic.    Agre with Hakwa on that.
What happened to the hostage taker?   I checked in the Sydney Morning herald - but there is no comment.  on that.
It is a tregedy that the Muslims are disgraced by a minority in their community and the result will be serious for the rest of the community.      The outcome is going to eb unpleasant for all and just add fire to the minority extemists in Australia.

Sounds like this guy was an idiot that should not have been on bail. Let's hope it is an isolated incident. The guy sounds like he had mental issues ,so he may not have been part of a wider group.

Sad world we are living in but if we do not stand firm and address issues like this correctly it is going to be repeated over and over again.

I think it's unfair to paint all of islam with the same brush just because there's some idiots out there, I know a couple of Muslims and both are disgusted by the actions of the last couple days. Although I agree with AJ, action must be taken and the issues must be addressed. It may not be all of them but Islam needs to get their house in order and stand strong against the few disgusting individuals. 
What happened in Pakistan to the innocent children was horrifying!

We must avoid generalisations about religious groups, Muslims, Christians, etc. There are good people and bad in every group.

The 'self starter' or 'lone wolf' in Sydney is the tragic outcome of religious indoctrination which the majority of us undergo at some stage of our lives.

Mostly its parents forcing kids to go to church so that the maximum dose of guilt and fear can be installed at a young age (basic brainwashing) based from text arising from the most inaccurate history doc ument in existence. Revised and edited multiple times,  inaccurately translated and entire sections added for dramatic effect by the Catholic church and the Kings of England to suit their unsavory agendas. If you wish to live your life by the litigious text of an inaccurate doc ument - that is your business but dont impress it onto others.

Sometimes that indoctrination involves violent defense of said religion which is extremely unfortunate. This is what happened in Sydney.

What I find disgusting is the organized murder of 126 children by an organization claiming to uphold religious ideals. Another 145 victims of the human fear of death which is the primary driver in the need for theism.

 Offal, since when does Moslems read the Bible? You've got your religions mixed up...amongst other things.

Religion is not somehow immune to criticism. This is a fallacy.

Religious radicalism indoctrinated by human beings is the problem. They are not linked in a directly proportional manner though because without human participation there would be no religion, however without religion there would still be humans. Happy humans.

It's a disgusting marriage of evils to create the unfortunate situation we have in the world right now.

Again, that's my opinion which I have a right to. If you have a different view - no problem.

 Bloody shameful that this peice of human garbage was on bail ,I wrote to a friend in PE about him a while back when this piece of filth was harassing the widows of diggers killed in Afghanistan .This same git got someone else to set his ex wife on fire and stab her to death while he created an obviously false alibi ,he also had some forty odd sexual assault charges against him .Our idiot government has been taking away our freedom to supposedly combat extremists but as always they fail to do that and we end up having more to fear from pour own government .Who in their wisdom sent our SAS off to stir up more of these toe-rags instead of actually protecting our own ,when I saw the police SWOS unit was involved I told my missus it would end badly having dealt with them in an anti-terrorist excercise at Mascot airport ,I was part of the support group for the SAS who refused to allow the SWOS half wits anywhere near them as they were too gung ho and unprofessional.

We are becoming desensitized to these horrible occurences because they happen so often. The two Australians killed seem like high quality people, and the whole thing was so random. Their families must be devastated. How do decent people of all beliefs get the control back?  First we need to find decent leaders.

DB it is both religion AND people that are the problem. Religion is used as a tool to assist human greed! it is for that very reason that so many people are turning away from religion. They don't trust it anymore, because man's grubby agenda is clear to see in all religions. 
Does God exist, is Christianity right, or Islam, Judism etc etc, who knows? Nobody can prove any religion or God beyond doubt, and nobody can prove the opposite either. 
That said, I hope there is a hell so that these murderers can burn in it forever! 

For what it's worth the lunatic had a gun licens e...no-one can explain why anyone who has his history was allowed one. 

 Denny, the Australian Federal Police just admitted giving the PM wrong information concerning the license. Apparently he never had a gun license.

 Blue, correct on all counts. Fact is everyone can't be right, but how do we measure right and wrong? Logic? SOME religions are supposed to be a good thing, but are used by power mongers for their bad ends, so how good can it be good? What is just and what is not? Yeah,  I know it sounds stupid, but at the end of the day we only need laws to have some sort of order, irrespective of religion. Any other restrictions imposed on others just for the sake of it must be wrong.
