Seem absent today...who cannot forget the Eddie Barlows,the Pat Simcox's and most entertaining of all Dennis Lillee
I remember the Barlow/Lawry incident at the Wanderers when Bunter was bowling to dour grumpy Bill and he kept missing Eddies tricky balls when he took off his glasses and offered them to Lawrie.
Lillee on the otherhand brought the house down on the field when got the bats lbw plum on middle pin twice...the stubborn umpire was unmoved but the funny side happened on third delivery when the middle stump and bails were sent skyhigh and he turned to the surly umpire and said;that was close,wasn't it.
Another was the alumium bat incident at the Waca;
During a Test at the WACA Ground in December 1979 between Australia and England, Lillee went to the crease with an aluminium bat manufactured by a company owned by a friend. There were no rules against using such a bat, but trouble began when Lillee hit a ball that went for three runs. Australian captain Greg Chappell thought that the ball should have gone for a four, and instructed Rodney Hogg to deliver a conventional wooden bat to Lillee. As this was happening, English captain Mike Brearley complained to the umpires that the bat was damaging the ball.[citation needed]
Lillee refused to change the bat. Brearley, Lillee, and the umpires held an animated discussion for almost ten minutes, before Chappell insisted that Lillee should change bats. In a fit of pique, Lillee threw "the offending lump of metal fully 40 yards towards the pavilion", and grudgingly took the wooden bat. He was not disciplined by the ACB for this incident. After the game, sales of the bat skyrocketed for a few months, before the laws of the game were amended, specifying that bats had to be made from wood.
The other was perhaps the first match fixing incident;
At Headingley on the 1981 tour of England, Australia was in such a strong position at one stage of the third Test that bookmakers at the ground were offering odds of 500–1 on an England victory. These odds were flashed on the scoreboard during a break in the game and noticed by the Australian players. Lillee and Rod Marsh believed that the odds were so ludicrous that, via a third party, they each put a small wager on the outcome, later describing their actions as a "joke". Between them, they collected 7,500 pounds when England pulled off a comeback victory. Both men openly discussed the incident and received no official censure or sanction, although some criticised their actions.[27] There has never been a suggestion that the bets compromised their efforts in the game. However, the issue has been re-examined in modern times following the match-fixing scandals that have plagued international cricket since the mi

The tyrant is at it again...gets fluffed up when his ducks are not lined in a row...seemed to me that the bulk of the members were not in favour of complete segraration but a spirited and balanced posting... don't take instructions from self appointed sycophants who delight in policing others...get a life poison.
If others don't like it in a consensus then I'll obviously comply.
We've had enough poison from you today to kill a hundred rats...you are irritatingly rigid that you kill the spirit and comraderie of the decent okes here.

I agree. This is should be in the cricket section. Even Beeno respects the rules and puts his religious and political stuff in the otehr sections

Fair enough but what is the concensus...it seems we are divided here...we must compromise...we must realise that we all see things differently...I may have misunderstood but what is unpleasant is the rigid self righteos attitude of one or 2 posters that delight in destroying the comraderie and banter; this can augur the demise of this forum.
Now the hypocracy...no sooner had poison after poisoning and hogging another thread has the cheat and audacity to attack with venom once again and every body says not word and then another cricket posting.
Double standards and lack of sincerity and cowardliness.
Confusion;

Some will probably respectfully disagree, but it seems to me our other sports section is just a graveyard for ideas. My naughty cricket posting on the upper level has generated 10 times the responses achieved down below.
Why not have simply two categories....sports and banter. The T20 WC has turned out to be one of the best sports events in a long time, with pulsating finishes and epic performances. But there is no real dialogue about this barnburner of a tournament. I have no doubt if things were posted up top, far better discussion would have emerged.
I suppose if your vision is the best purist Rugby Board all this is irrelevant. But if we want a rugby centered board with the freedom to explore other significant sporting events, like the Olympics coming up this year...a bit more exposure would help. I honestly believe rugby posting will dominate whatever the format....rugby dialogue is not at risk, robust discussion of other sport is.

No I don't believe he has been around. But I agree a very fair poster, hope he makes it back. We have had few Aussie posters over the years..and one wanker called "Aussiemad" who lied about buying a Cape wine farm...defrocked by yours truly. He was the exception though, most of the Aussie posters, have been decent blokes.

Downstairs didn't gather any cricket traffic...cant think of a better idea than to integrate all sports and to leave Jihadi Beeno in solitary.

No need for sections...we need one section only. The odd thread here and there about another sport or topic won't kill anyone. For many years that worked just fine. Then Beans became Trump obsessed and had mile long monologues with copy and pastes that just annoyed 90% of posters here. He seems to have that obsession under control and now we can just chat as we always did.
Its really simple, just remember this is a rugby board, and if someone posts something else of general interest to most/all posters...all good. If someone posts something completely irrelevant that is of interest to just about nobody, they must get a [removed]ing clue and go to a chat room and converse with similarly minded people there!
Rugby = Fine
Other sport = Fine within limits
Other topics of general interest = Fine
Trump copy and pastes, Creationist copy and pastes, Climate copy and pastes, and any other topic of limited or no interest = 1 post limit! Anything more is just selfish and such posts/posters should be ignored.

Thanks for the support fellows. We have some control freaks who want to dictate the dialogue, but the beauty of this Board is a free flow ideas.

I'll be happy with two sections only ........... as long as all nonsports chat remains firmly ensconced down south .
Ps. missing Aussie poster, Claydog .......... a Reds supporter, so perhaps being m.i.a. is understandable .

Seba...
You forget the incident between Dennis Lillee and Javed Miandad when Lillee deliberately elbow bumps him and Miandad retaliates with a swing of his bat. Then there's the one between Dean Jones and Curtly Ambrose......Jones was batting and Ambrose bowling....Jones pulls away as Ambrose makes his run-up, Jones complains about the white sweat band wrapped around Ambrose's wrist, he claimed it blended with the white ball. Ambrose from thereon increased the speed of his deliveries by 10kms. Almost forget the run-in between Steve Waugh and the fiery Ambrose when he had to be dragged away after a heated exchange.....looked like it could have been a punch-up. Those were the days.
