The SA players released from their contracts are Wayne Parnell, Albie Morkel and Jacques Kallis - the latter staying on as an assisting coach for Kolkatta Night Riders.
It is not yet clear when the player auction is going to be held and which SA players will be on the auction list. The retained players can also be auctioned - but the clubs have the right to match their auction price if it is higher than their present earnings.
It will be interesting to see whether any other players from SA makes it into the various club teams during the auction.
