A little while ago...I received an sms...saying your mobile number has won one a brand new Toyota Yaris with Toyota by Toyota SA...call this number...apparently they ask for your home address and work...for delivery...cannot believe people are so naive.
This was just after I placed an add in Gumtree to sell my car for CASH.
If they get the above information they know
1. Your home address
2. Your work address...they when you are away at work.
3. You are likely to carry a lot of cash...some people never bank it because cash cost charges to deposit and a lot of money over the counter creates suspicion...bank staff have a strict rule to report it...FICA act.
4.You are very likely to be in the market for a new car...their common sense tells them you will be looking out to replace it and buy a new car...hijacking...new cars are targeted especially as they are quickly disposed of...they know your address and when you normally get home.
5.If you are stupid enough to give them this information they know you are a careless and simple person...very easy to rob.
They peruse adds, like Gumtree...they are very cunning.
NEVER,EVER give any information over the phone, email or sms to anybody...you have been warned .
