The following from News24:-
"The Sharks on Monday announced that loose forward Keegan Daniel, who spent two seasons with Kubota in Japan, will be making a return to Durban for the 2016 Super Rugby season.

With 199 caps to date for the Sharks, 59 of those as captain, he also led the team to Currie Cup glory in 2013.   Daniel has always been a fierce competitor and he will bring strong leadership and experience to the team environment, which will greatly benefit the youngsters in the Sharks squad.

Commenting on his signing, Sharks director of rugby Gary Gold told the Sharks’ official website: “Keegan’s record at the Sharks speaks volumes about the impact he had at this franchise as well as the calibre of player he is.

“We look forward to welcoming him home.”

Part of the damage done by Jake White at the Sharks is now being rectified.  White did not want Daniels near the team since he was stuck  on Fat Fransie and Daniel was not prepared to suck up to the latter/  There was bad blood between those two players as well.   Fat Fransie was appointed as interim captain in 2013 - while Daniel was recovering from an injury.  His performances was so poor that Plumtree replaced him early in the Kings match and b rought back Daniel two weeks early to take over the captaincy.

Fransie would not take that and when his pal Jake White was appointed as coach he undermined Daniel as being divisive in the team.  So White caused serious discontent among the players by backing Fat Fransie and ignoring a player who captained the Sharks over a long period.    That was the start of events that led to White's enforced resignation as Sharks coach.

Jake was of course completely correct. Daniel was a scrummie who believed for some reason he could play as a loose forward. Good rugby IQ but ruined through a lack of guidance. Hew could have been a better scrummie than Justin Marshall. As time went by and he took a hammering his form deteriorated and his speed declined. He got more an more gun shy  - a bit like another potentially great scrummie - Cheslin Kolbe.Man how dumb where these guppies to lose a coach of Jake's calibre!! They totally collapsed last year from being semi finalists!

The coach of Jake's calibre was fired because he damaged the team rather than built it.

Wee Daniel is back.  He plays the same role as Whitey for the Lions. Not much Braun but does have some brain power to link with the backs. Both too small for internationals backrow forwards. Maybe both would have been better as inside centres.

sharkbokkie Keegan weighs in at 96 kg.Warren Whiteley at 106 kg.Please don't bracket them like this!!
Sharkbokkie Danile was a possible centre but I think scrummie als Justin marshal type (But better) would have been his best bet.Warren is probably where he should be at number 8.
He damaged the team by reaching the semis. Next year without him they implode. Bwahahhahaahahahhaha now a very clever deduction ou maaaikie. Almost as bad as your take re the amazing Mr Trump!

I've always enjoyed Daniel. He will add much to the Sharks this season.

Jake is a chump. A self centered pr!ck that only ever thought of himself.

The Sharks are in dire straits because of it.

At least they have Lambie to guide them through it all.

It's gonna be a tough season for them this year ... especially with that fool Gold running the show.

Daniel is a natural leader and that was missing under White - who was saddled with the divisive  Fransie in that role and that did not work out since he was not helping the captain and in fact undermining him,
White's treatment of Daniel was to say the least outrageous.   This was on par with Mallet's treatment of Teichmann.

Pleased to read that Daniel is back with the Sharks.
He really got a raw deal from the guys who ran the Sharks into the ground i.e. White/Smit.
Trust that he has not lost his edge and will be able to deliver the goods as he did in years gone by.
He always put his body on the line for the Sharks.
Welcome back.

Delighted to have Keegan back with the Sharks...a hard working, committed loosie who leads by example...a strong character who will evoke backlash but certainly will gell with similar players who are unselfish and team players...will be happy to play under Lambie.
