The only reason Cooper is being overlooked is because he publicly slagged off Deans. The art of playing creative/flair players like Jantjies is embracing their creativity and giving the player the freedom to express and execute that flair on the field without the fear of repercussions if it all goes wrong. With this kind of security, players like this settle into their roles, safe in the knowledge that the positives will far outweigh the negatives.
The last thing you want to do is curb that creativity. Along with that creativity, comes to need for team mates to be atune to the unexpected. The Reds have this right, when Cooper is settled and on fire, his team mates tend to feed off his brilliance.......those imaginative passes tend to find recipients and lets face it, defences are so tight and structured these days, that one way of unlocking them is to throw caution to the wind and have the likes of Cooper and Jantjies create something from nothing, be its a pass, step or use of the boot.
What I like about Jantjies is that he never looks flustered even when he cocks up, he tends to laugh about it. Playing these kind of players is a gamble, but in my books certainly worth it. A settled creative player can only reap positive rewards for you - with the odd blemish thrown in of course.
Would I start Jantjies ahead of Goosen or Lambie - no, but would I have him on my bench - yes.
Cooper on the otherhand is better than Jantjies and I would definately start him for Oz. Deans is being a childish kid ignoring Cooper. He needs to grow up and put his personal issues aside and do whats right for Oz rugby. Oz need Cooper at 10
