Defence, scrumming, lineouts and kicking win it for the Bools

RG Snyman  was my MOM. Etzebeth was clearly not match fit and took a heavy knock. Snyman emerged as the dominant lock while Stephanie was stripped at least twice. Stephanie also turned the ball over time and again going for hero plays.
In the scrumming Malherbe was not able to provide much, while Van Der Merwe clearly dominated Kebble...probably his best scrumming performance of the year.
The Stormers loosies also struggled with Schalk the only real contributor. Fortunately Labuscagne was a bit of a penalty machine.
As expected Allende was more effective ball in hand than Steppie, although his lack of distribution with space on the outside really hurt the Stormers. Kriel did nothing...again.
The amazing thing about this game is in spite all their silly mistakes the Stormers could have won if the otherwise impressive Du Plessis made his kicks. And how could that not have been a card on the high kick given the Zas precedent.
More like WW1 than WW2, but real rugby after the silly stuff in the two earlier games.

Standard BS - not worth commenting on.

 Neither the Stormers nor the Bulls will win anything in Super Rugby with the game produced yesterday.  They will lose because as SB said elsewhere the forwards were the ball passers and backline players were just ther e to be sub-loose-forwards.   Biggest BS imaginable.    

 Both flyhalves were taken out of the match ... not sure what was so impressive about Du Plessis contribution ... he hardly had any ball to work with and when he did get ball he did nothing with it. 

 Well you like players with heart CC. So do I. After that nasty fall du Plessis he picked himself up and got straight back into it. He competed for and won his own up and under, made 4 good tackles, 5 metres a run, kicked beautifully to the corner and got an assist on the Allende try. To me du Plessis and Stephanie were the two Stormers who were really trying.
