Gavin Lerena has on Tuesday participated in the Hongkong International Jockey Championships and came up the top jockey in the series - in which the top jockeys from all over the world participated. The competition covered four races - of which he won two.
Nice one for him - the prize money was HK$500 000 and a watch valued at HK$100 000 - not bad for the top jockey in SA.
Was lucky myself - the odds on the horse in the first race won by him was 5/1 and the second race 6/1. As a loyal SA supporter I backed him all out and put some nice money on him to win those two races - rode like a champ in both races.
