Delande is the in-cumbent 12 so he should be starting.
The injured(established) player or new player should play off the bench. Then play better than the starting player to establish the position as their own, or earn it back.
Why was he not even on the bench last week?
Matfield would be a much better captain than Jean. Jean has been captain of the 2 biggest losses in Bok history- Argentina and now Japan.
Jean has his own form to worry about- let alone the captaincy.

This one is like jumping from the frying pan into the fire.  Jean has the respect of the players in the team - can the same be said iro Matfield?   Judging from what the situation was at the Bulls where Matfield was a divisive factor in the changeroom because of his tendency to carry stories about the players to Ludeke - he may npot have the respect of especially the younger players.  There has also been stresses between Matfield and for instance the Du Plessis brothers - so that may also apply to other players as well.
Jean is obviously in poor form now and the form of Matfield is even worse.   Since he is useless in Tight 5 play like was so obvious on Saturday when instead of contributing to the forward play, he was moonlighting in the backline, the other forwards have to carry an extra load in the game.
In any event if you play him as a kind of absentee lock who will have to be left out - Etzebeth or De Jager?   Both are ten times better locks than Matfield is at present.   So why weaken the team by playing either of them on Saturday?
Meyer unfortunately painted himself into the corner by his selections and that includes the captaincy issue as well.  In any event neither of them covered themselves in glory during the past year.
Any reasonable coach bar Meyer would drop both from the starting line-up and put both on the bench or drop them completely from the squad altogether and make Burger the captain for the game on Saturday.   .

Get rid of both Jean, Louw and Victoria. Make Schalk the captain and move him to #6.Hopefully Thor will be OK.  Obviously Lood, Eben and Damien will take there rightful positions in the run on team.

Your description as quoted hereunder gives an exact description of the pair of Meyer and Mozart:-
"Can I go, can I go. Umm, they are both F**KWITS"
Meyer will be too stupid to make the required change and Mozart will have a seizure.

Damian is not better than Jean. Interesting idea in promoting Matfield as captain, but I don't see how it will work. At some point we are going to have to play him from the bench. Jean can start and stay there. I'd make Strauss captain, or Schalk. Schalk is pretty much irreplaceable . Make Damian the incumbent and its all irrelevant, as we'll be going home early.

Sharkbok.......please take the smelling salt therapy asap.

DROP BOTH OF THE GUYS U MENTIONED.
Victoria is to old and slow to play rugby at this level and is a burden to the side.
Jean should have retired after his injury for the sake (good) of SA rugby.
Jannie, Burger, Louw, Pienaar, JP, Morne and a few others are all way past their best and are a hindrance to the Springboks performance as a team.
At the same time how about getting your Shark supporters to get rid of Gold and Smit as they are a disaster for Natal rugby.

Your Samian story has been proved as wrong so many times - it has gone stale and is not even a good laugh anymore.   What is evident is that Kirchner has shown again why he should have been left in Ireland - he is not a test players backside - or perhaps he is.   Too clueless and robotic to ever be and Morne remains Morne - in the robotic race he beats Kirchner easily.
Get the message?

Send matfield back home now.
Play Jean off the bench. Folk are expecting too much from a player returning from injury. The oaks are also making Jean to be far worse than he was. Unsound judgement and lack of rugby acumen at play here.
Burger as captain.
All very obvious.

Haaaaaaaahahahahahahahaaaa!!!

It really amazes me that there are so many stupid people in this country supporting rugby.

Desert Fox is beyond thick. Fcuk me ... what a m o r o n!!! The man is seriously brain damaged.

Is it really that difficult?

Monster ... your suggestion of selecting Schalk at 6 and making him captain is about the best we can do with the squad we have there.

Getting rid of both Victor and Jean is the way forward. I fully agree with you.

You sir have a functioning brain and it's refreshing to read your insightful posts.

Keep em coming.

Arthur ... you and I are on the same page.

Shark ... well ... nothing new here ... it seems you're as ignorant about the game of rugby as you are Christianity.

Best you call it a day.

I do not agree with Luke - keeping Matfield in the team - the teams s trength is reduced to 14 players plus a passenger and the Tight 5 to a Tight 4.   The best way forward is to keep the joker around and away from anywhere near the Bulls.  He is in England - let him join the Saints asap.

Draad,Lets keep the captaincy with a player who's been fighting in the trenches of late. With Jean and Victoria out we have experienced players to add value to Schalk as Captain.

As soon as Meyers's sacked, which will hopefully be soon, we'll need to make whole sale changes.

Cut the dead wood away. Rid ourselves of the elderly, off form players and replace them with a young, vibrant, talented, on form team.

We need to get rid of at least 85% of Meyer's boys.

Expose the new team to the test arena and have them rack up experience for the coming WC in 2019.

By the time the WC arrives, we'll have a squad of easily 40 test caps each and on top of that we'll have settled combinations, where players understand each others play and the backing of a potent bench that can be used as a weapon in the second half.

Schalk will do for now but his days are numbered.

In my opinion, this should be his last WC.

Trust dumb Shark to make that stupid call. Matfield is utterly useless and should not be anywhere near the side.....same applies to Jean.....so no, both need to be dropped as de Allende is far far better than Jean, just like Lood or PSDT are far far better than useless Vic

CC,Schalk will have to do for now because there isn't any other as you mention. After the WC he can go gracefully and we can thank him for his services and his great contribution to South African Rugby, something we should have done with Victoria and all the other hangers on. Lets remember that the hasbeans didnt select themselves. It sits squarely with Meyertjie.

A true sportsman knows when the game is beyond him both physically and mentally.
Irrespective of who praises u and sings from the highest point about u, u also have a responsibility to the team to produce a 100% plus effort.
If u know that u are not capable of producing that performance, u should retire, not just for yourself and your reputation but for your team and in this case your country.
Overstaying your playing days will do nothing but go south plus ruin your record as a outstanding player in your day.
Now I will leave it to u guys to add the list of names to those who have been selected to represent South Africa at WC 2015 and should have done the honorable thing.
I will start with:
  1. Meyer and his assistant coaches.  2. Victoria.  3. Jannie.  4. Jean.  5. Zane.  6. Morne.  7. Pienaar.  8. Louw.  9. Coenie.10. Alberts.  Sorry guys I forgot one....MOZART.
