A core of foul-mouthed Kiwi posters that loved dishing it out but never failed to clutch those pearls with all the despair of Ophelia when it came back their way.
As I recall, they took great joy in using the worst language possible when it came to Beeno, labelled me a drug addict...
In fact, anybody that said anything negative about the ABs was instantly ganged up on and told they were crazy, jealous, stupid, etc.
I recall once being told how dumb, jealous and spiteful I was as I spoke about the fact that Ben Smith was making a habit of flying kicking people. A barrage of insults came my way. Then, Ben Smith's teammate got the first red card ever for that exact infringement and the Kung Fu vanished from the game.
The Bok fans are far better at being the supporters of the best side in the world. We are prepared to criticise our own players, argue over them and say how we feel. We are far less likely to hide behind our ranking and follow the herd.
Honestly, I'd much rather be a part of a crowd where there are elements of it that are able to look at the WC win in 23 and discuss it from a perspective of luck. Able to look at our coach and talk about his weaknesses and not fanboy every single player in the side.
Look at how Eben's eye gouge had been discussed here. There are those that think it was entirely intentional, those that think it's somewhere in the middle and those that think it was totally accidental. Nobody knows who is right and who is wrong but the discussion, to my mind at least, reflects a "healthy" fanbase.
