Erasmus.....the mystique is gone
Same was Meyer - the mystique did not last either, Hope he ends up better than Meyer did though.
Doubt it though - nobody can be worse than a loss against Japan and not a single win in the preceding RC.
I don't know if the mystique is gone or decided to stay,.... but the news are that the same Erasmus is already gone
according to Stuff
"Rassie Erasmus' tenure as Springboks coach could be over by Sunday.
Not that he's losing any sleep over his future at the helm.
The pressure is mounting following back-to-back defeats against Argentina and Australia, to the point where Erasmus said South Africa might have to beat the All Blacks in Wellington in order to keep his job."
and this simply means that he's gone,... there's no f*cking way the boks can win in Wellington to the AB,.... they are going to be thumped again,.... and very possibly by another record margin,.... even if last year's 57-0 is already huge
the boks defense is non-existant,... there's no defensive structure (impossible to say if it's sliding, rushing, flat or whatever), hence bad coaching,... and individually the most of the players have no clue about defending,.... caught off-position, deficient tackling technique,...
and what now for the boks? is there any SA coach able to straighten this out?
I doubt very much,... and the reputed international coaches are signed and working
Rassie won't be fired because they won't find even a half decent couch to replace him.
We shall see what happens with team s election this week.
Dbdraad,
Erasmus won't be fired,... he says he's going to resign if they don't win,... and they are going to be thumpedJantjies overdid the kick pass too. It should be a surprise tactic. Looks spectacular when it works, but achieves nothing if the receiver is already covered by a defender other than isolating him. He kicked away another big overlap situation from inside our half as well. At least he didn't implode completely, but if the player can't spot and exploit the right option when it's on, what's the point of having him around? 27 tests on his card and Rassie is excited about him showing "glimpses" of his potential. Oh brother.
I'm not a specifically an anti-Jantjies person. There are things that he can do well, some things better than Pollard. However, having gone through the first half now with a fine tooth comb, I saw nothing. He sparked nothing. What little he did do could have been done by anyone else.
Erasmus is trying a few new things. We saw some different patterns against Australia. So the question is, should he be given time to work through the teething problems? One thing is for certain, his identification if talent is almost on par with Straeuli.
I don't think a coach from another country would accept the job due to the political pressure and transformation etc, etc. Coaching a sports team is pressure enough from the fans, let alone outside political machinations.
He might just be talking things up to show that he is committed etc.The backline defence is a concern, and the attack from the inside backs is pathetic.
The Bok tight five, and the outside backs have been solid.
The only good attack is usually from the back three.
The loose forwards and inside backs are useless.
Game plan must be a factor, but the calibre of our inside backs and loose forwards is not great either.
Bok Rugby is a FU. Rassie d
won't be allowed to resign. The Bok Ship will sink with him at the helm.
He has a business sight. SARU is nearing bankrupcy so his wages are endangered. Instant gratification mindset. He will leave the boat to secure a wage elsewhere.
Trad, I see the STUPID is hurting again. Good job Idiot.
This is exactly what I hoped wouldn't surface, his hit and run coaching style. It was always going to be a gamble. We don't have many more coaches left to go to.
Mozart
Meyer was fired because of rank failure and your comments are fictional.
Ceradunce
Meyer was effectively fired when SARU refused to renew his contract - what can one expect otherwise after winning three matches out of 9 played. That was vicious to be quite frank.
Then for the wonderful Mozart and you - both a dreaming and I am sure Rassie knows exactly what he wants. He wants to get SARU to the point where they would agree that quotas are not the way to go and would use that in describing that he cannot go ahead and expect to succeed when he quotas do not perform satisfactorily.
That would mean more merit selections and identify which players are in the side on merit and which players are not.
Fact is that Erasmus also realized where he made selection mistakes - like with the selection of Fat Fransie and Bismarck - which fortunately never materialized - and with a player like Louw and Jantjies - who failed badly in every match they played in. So there are own mistakes to be corrected too.
The latter he will correct himself - the former the public will never really know what is happening.
The anti-Erasmus brigade are out in full force as to be expected, That they think Meyer was the ideal coach says a lot about their thinking abilities.

It works the other way round. No evidence is required as the contract was not renewed.
The required evidence is that SARU wanted to renew the contract.
Can anybody tell what % the Boks have had in winning in Oz recently. Heard the Ozzies are wvnning 90%! But of course the Rassie bashers, who were bashing Rassies before he became Bok coack and at times when he was excelling, dont mention that.
Have any of the drama queens here read Proudfoots comments. A largely black Bok side will either do the job or it wont be done. Must be 50% by RWC and then after taht they will likely up it to 75% and so on. Winning is NOT the major objective. Rassie has taken the most poisoned chalice ever but don't ask oaks to evaluate fairly.
Go Rassies and the Boks!!!!!!!!!!!! Still hope the give the wee abs a huge go and even win. Old habits di e hard.
LOL...this is hilarious...there was absolutely no mystique whatsoever...maybe with those who have peculiar imaginations that think one man can be a messiah of rugby.
If you look at it objectively a few more points in SA favour, even 1 point win would have turned the plastic fans that now criticise him into some form of hero magician.
Hahahahahahahahaha...strange how fickle some are!
Dofdoos
Meyer clearly indicated his intention to renew his contract and it was NOT renewed. Are you going gaga and not recognizing these facts dunce?
Moz, that is where the plastics really show their nature: Jake. They revelled in the world cup win, beating their chests like silver backs. When the euphoria faded away they became bitter that Jake proved the wrong. So they look for excuses to attack him. They'll attack the Boks just to get at him. Why? There is no real reason for this. These imbeciles did the same with Meyer. However, it was even more bizarre, as his time lost its edge when he filed the team wit plastic favourites. Where were they when Lambie and Reinach were humiliated on the 2914 EOYT? Or when Damian nearly conceded 4 tries to Australia? Or when Goosen was totally ineffective in 2012? Where were they when Lood dropped key passes in the Welsh 22 and was beaten with ease against New Zealand? There are so many more. They are never heard. They'll attack Meyer, but never admit that they were wrong. Many of these were booing Pollard off the field - how many joined them from their homes?
The mess we find ourself in is what the plastics wanted. What would the Boks have been had Jake been retained four more years? I bet we'd have been world champions. The Meyer years would have been much easier and we wouldn't be in the mess we find 8rselces in the last three years.
Every one differing from the three world experts are plastics - enough said. This issue is being raised and drummed up by the three most arrogant members imaginable - and this is a typical storm in a teacup raised by the three.
Lets accept that as Beeno said - it is a poisoned chalice Erasmus is carrying now. Let him carry it and if he ends up desperate because of sabotage by SARU - the true situation will become clear.
In the meantime the personal slurs and character assassination is definitely the type of BS our self-proclaimed world experts use as a rule in respect of coaches and players.
Character assassination? Where? Who isn't giving Rassie a chance? We don't have the power to literally make that kind of decision anyway. I assure you one thing, the people you personally attack on this forum won't withhold praise from Rassie if he succeeds. They won't diminish his success just to personally attack the man. It's so funny how you are everything that you accuse others of being. Always.
Mozart and Ceradunce - supported by you - started the character assassination based on lies and misrepresentations even before Erasmus appointment took effect,
It is not a lie that Rassie has historically run away. He has yet to show that he can handle being a head coach. This is not a character assassination, but an accurate impression of what Rassie has been in the past. He is already showing signs of cracking . Not what any of us want, but what is happening in front of us.
Haha haha! Clever Mike painting himself into the corner again. He never sees it coming.

Not true. All I did was to show his track record as far as sticking to his contracts, and then, based on those FACTS, I questioned the chances of him seeing ou t his latest contract with SARU.
Balls - the full picture was never given and the reasons for change was always negated and you knew zero about the contract conditions anyway, That was why your allegations were at best slanderous.

When a new coach takes over he inherits a lot of good players, some mediocre ones and a few bad ones but he inherits the last coaches errors as well...all this is to be ironed out gradually and step by step. First of all it would be detrimental to be presumptious and start firing left, right and centre...what you don't want is a panic reaction amongst the players and candidates of the future and you must first of all trust and respect. You'll have huge challenges to overcome but this is a gradual process and it takes time...your goals also must be clearly defined and how you will achieve them.
Unfortunately as I've said before we lack patience and their are some that believe in more radical and ruthless methods...you get different coaches with different methods and certainly different strengths of character...some are gentlemen others are ruffians and some are pigs.
SA has had some great coaches...Danie Craven, Izak Van Heerden, Ian Mc Intosh, Kitch Christie, Jake White (I'm not a fan but I don't deny that he has his methods that some like and quite recently Johan Ackerman (who I believe is the best we now have but he has departed but perhaps he could be e nticed back somehow.
Rassie, I don't know, all I remember about Rassie was his excellent captaincy skills when he captained that great Lions side. He might be a good coach, he might not be trusted by a few but at least chaps, give the blighter a fair chance...he could prove to be a good one but he needs time as our rugby was at sixes and sevens under poor AC...it was just out of his depth.
Rassie needs time to build, dismissing him would be disasterous at this stage...I think most of us would agree on that.
Listen Dofdoos - when an employee applies for retention after completion of his contract and that is refused he is effectively fired. I worked for many years as an HR specialist and that is the fact insofar as contract employees are concerned.
Nobody is denying him the opportunity, but he is making life more difficult than it needs to be. He is needlessly using players that have repeatedly failed under him already. Players that are repeating the same failure they produced under Coetzee, some with Meyer an their franchises in Super rugby.
I don't think the gameplan is evolving well enough. There was clearly a big improvement from the England series to the Puma tests. The Aussie test was a shambles and big step back. I said before last week's game that we'd learn a lot about Rassie. We learned nothing positive. This All Black test is going to be the real kicker. I don't demand that he win, but I do demand that the team plays much better and he drop the dead wood.
