Eben Etzebeth insists in court documents that he did not have a firearm in his possession and was not involved in assaulting anyone during the alleged Langebaan incident.

On Monday, it was reported that Etzebeth had turned to the High Court in a bid to prevent an alleged racist assault case from going to the Equality Court.

Etzebeth and a group of friends and family had been accused of being involved in an incident of assault and racial abuse during a night out in Langebaan in the Western Cape on the eve of the Boks’ World Cup squad announcement, which has led to a widespread backlash.

In court papers filed on Monday as revealed by Netwerk24, and in which Etzebeth accuses the South African Human Rights commission of ‘unlawful conduct’, he sought to provide his account of events.

The Bok lock admits there was a confrontation of sorts early on in the night when a ‘white man rudely demanded’ that he remove his cap at the Langebaan Yacht Club as per the club’s dress code.

He adds that no racial remarks were made and the incident was resolved peacefully.

Around midnight, says Etzebeth, his group and he then moved to Die Water Gat pub in Langebaan, and wanted to leave the establishment at around 2am.

Etzebeth states that they initially waited to avoid what looked like an incident outside the pub, but after leaving five minutes later, he says his girlfriend and him were nearly run over by a red Honda.

The Springbok says he knocked on the car’s window to alert him to their presence, and alleges that they were then cursed at before the driver moved away.

However, a group of men then allegedly approached Etzebeth’s contingent, and he states that his intention was then to try to get away before things ‘got out of hand’.

While driving away, though, Etzebeth further states that someone threw a bottle at his car, and when he got out to inspect if there was any damage, a group of people allegedly continued to curse at them.

Etzebeth says that they walked over to confront the group, but that chaos then ensued with people running everywhere, while adding that he feared for the safety of his brother.

The Springbok second rower finishes by saying that further rocks were thrown at them when they returned to their car, but that no one was injured and that they then drove home immediately.

Etzebeth insists that he ‘never assaulted anyone’ and ‘did not have a firearm or any weapon with him’.

Hmmmm . . . so it's 2am in the morning on a night when they've been drinking heavily and already involved in two prior incidents and we're to believe that Eben - the well-known conflict-avoider - behaved as he described in the highlighted bits?
They wanted to avoid what looked like an incident outside the pub? Doesn't that sound a bit out of character considering the circumstances . . . even for a naive and biased fool? Huh?
Eben politely tapped on the window to "alert the driver of his presence"? LMAO! "Excuse me, sir, sorry to disturb you but just letting you know we're here and you nearly ran us over.
And then they are approached by a group of men and this drunken and armed gang of notorious bullies and enforcers decide they'd better drive away quickly before things "get out of hand"? Just how stupid and naive do you have to be to swallow this kind of bullshit? Seriously.
"Oh dear chaps, someone's just thrown a bottle at the car. Let's get out and inspect the damage . . . goodness and now they're throwing rocks at us . . . what should we do? Well, we're drunk, we're big, we're aggressive, we've been causing shit the whole night, there are a lot of us and we're armed . . . I know, let's drive home immediately!"
Pffffffffffffhahahahaha!
Work on your story Eben, you've got time. Not sure if you'll have credible witnesses to corroborate this little fantasy story but you at least have time to edit the really big and obvious porkies.

They wanted to avoid what looked like an incident outside the pub? Doesn't that sound a bit out of character considering the circumstances (nope, it is consistent with someone trying to avoid trouble). . . even for a naive and biased fool? Huh?
Eben politely(why did you add a word?) tapped on the window to "alert the driver of his presence"? LMAO! "Excuse me, sir, sorry to disturb you but just letting you know we're here and you nearly ran us over.
And then they are approached by a group of men and this drunken and armed gang of notorious bullies and enforcers( you are again extrapolating without all the facts because of your bias)  decide they'd better drive away quickly before things "get out of hand"? Just how stupid and naive do you have to be to swallow this kind of bullshit? Seriously.

Work on your story Eben, you've got time. Not sure if you'll have credible witnesses to corroborate this little fantasy story but you at least have time to edit the really big and obvious porkies. (He does not need any witnesses, its his accusers that must proof his version of the events is not true and that their's are. You know the whole burden of proof requirement?) It is clear that this piece was written by someone(reporter) interpreting Eben's account of the events. It is clearly not extracts from the legal documents filed...maybe even deliberately inaccurate. There is no way that his lawyers OK' ed the statement above.

You make a lot of assumptions and adding your own bias slant. You are doing the exact same as the MRC did last week - convicting him without seeing any proof. I'm surprised you didn't mention that they drove off under the influence? Did you consider that there might have been a designated drivers or that this wasn't a drunken gang of hooligans? You assumed his guilt because in your heart you want him to be guilty because you don't like him?
It is clear that this piece was written by someone interpreting Eben's account of the events. It is clearly not extracts of the legal documents filed...maybe even deliberately inaccurate. There is no way that his lawyers put out the statement above.

PS, why would an interpretation of the af fidavit be published if they could have quoted him directly? I read the translation in "Die Burger" which is a subsidiary of the Netwerk 24, so they obviously have the actual transcript, why don't they quote it directly? SA Rugby Mag is effectively reporting on a article publish by Netwerk 24 and slightly altering it according to their own interpretation. Real bad journalism.

"You assume his guilt because in your heart you want him to be guilty because you hate him"

Obviously Eben's statement was made with the help of a lawyer. Who would  have warned Etzebeth that lying could dramatically compound his difficulties. Yet these are the statements made in court papers.

And just as in the case of Geo Cronje .....Peeper/Koos  claims he knows the person he hates is guilty. Some tits never learn.

The "feel" of the Afrikaans translation of his actual statement is much better than how it was reported in the OP article...yet Rooi still had to further slant it by adding words and negative context...illustrating the negative vision of this incident in his own mind...and trying to sell it as probable fact. Why?

Eben gets accused of being a bully. Since he started playing for the Boks in 2012, I can't recall seeing him throw one punch or cheap shot...handbag stuf a plenty but nothing dirty...why the bad rep then? Totally irrational IMO.

I've yet to know anyone more spiteful and hateful of another than ou Koosie. We need to be thankful to social media for exposing these types.
