Seriously having tried weakling JJ at centre, we then tried weakling Kriel and now they want us to try Goosen a third skinny outside centre. These guys are  all pumped up with body building and all the protein they can legally consume. But they remain a physical type, fast small boned men in a charnel house.  'They  shall not pass' doesn't work for these stringbeans. Best they can do is what you have all seen Kriel doing recently....hitching a ride.
Forgetaboutit...these 10 metre runs in contact with offloading possibilities are not acceptable. No Goosen.

The other options mentioned Bismarck, Pienaar, Vermeulen and Louw have to be part of any serious consideration for June.

BISMARCK DU PLESSIS (Montpellier, France)
Du Plessis was the Boks' first-choice hooker between 2012 and 2015. He's been a force for Montpellier both at the set pieces and breakdowns. Indeed, a powerful performance at the tackle point influenced the flow of the recent European Challenge Cup final and ultimately helped Montpellier win the title. While many fans are punting the selections of Adriaan Strauss, Malcolm Marx, and the two Stormers hookers Bongi Mbonambi and Scarra Ntubeni, the Bok selectors must have noted Du Plessis's recent form in Europe. Clearly one of South Africa's greatest ever hookers still has more to give.

JOHAN GOOSEN (Racing 92, France)
A couple of months ago, Goosen may have been viewed by Allister Coetzee as a possible rather than a probable selection for the June Tests. However, following some average performances by South Africa's fullbacks in the 2016 Super Rugby tournament, and in the wake of the injury to Lions flyhalf Elton Jantjies, the Boks will need a player like Goosen who has the ability to play several backline positions. Goosen has excelled at No 13 for Racing 92 this season, and showed his value as a goal-kicker in the recent European Champions Cup final against Saracens. South Africa appears to be well covered in the No 13 position, though, with Lionel Mapoe and Jesse Kriel the front-runners for the position this June. Goosen may be better utilised at fullback or flyhalf, positions he has played at international level before. If Jantjies does not feature, then the Boks will certainly need an experienced alternative to Lambie in the flyhalf position.

FRANCOIS LOUW (Bath, England)
Louw remains the outstanding candidate to wear the No 6 jersey against Ireland. Coetzee will lean on experienced players this June in the hope of securing his first series victory. He may also realise that few South African players have excelled in that fetching role over the course of the Super Rugby tournament. Against a team like Ireland, the Boks will need a breakdown specialist who can compete on the deck and slow the recycling of opposition ball. Players like Louw and Duane Vermeulen will also be tasked with forcing ruck turnovers and sparking counter-attacks.

RUAN PIENAAR (Ulster, Ireland)
Faf de Klerk and Rudy Paige have fired in patches this season, but should enjoy game time over the course of the three-Test series. What Coetzee may opt to do is bring a veteran like Pienaar in to mentor the youngsters, especially with regard to tactical kicking and game management. Pienaar could also provide some balance to a backline that will be wanting for experience. The Ulster scrumhalf's knowledge of the Ireland players and coaches will help a South African management team that hasn't had a lot of time to prepare for the coming series.

DUANE VERMEULEN (Toulon, France)
Many may have forgotten that it was Vermeulen who won the 2015 World Cup quarter-final for South Africa with one inspired display of power and skill. In the dying moments of the clash against Wales at Twickenham, the No 8 broke from the back of the scrum, drew a couple of defenders, and then got an incredible offload away to Fourie du Preez, who went on to score. Vermeulen's power in the tackle and prowess on the ground will be invaluable to the Boks this June, and in the months that follow. He has shown his ability as a leader over the past two seasons, and it would come as a surprise if he is not named Springbok captain for the series against Ireland.

Other overseas-based players worth considering: Willem Alberts and Morné Steyn (both Stade Français), Demetri Catrakilis, Jacques du Plessis and Frans Steyn (all from Montpellier), Steven Kitshoff (Bordeaux).

Of the players mentioned only two deserve serious consideration - based on performance - namely Goosen and Kitshoff.   Vermeulen could be considered even though his performances for Toulon were iffy.
We definitely do not need Bismarck and to even mention Fat Fransie and  Fatter Alberts is ridiculous.

And that's the informed view from Riversdale....Goosen to take on Kuridrani.

Who said he should be selected in the first case - in my book he should be on the bench as back-up flyhalf and full back.
I would rather have him than De Jongh - remember how he vanished from site in the Brumbies -  Stormers game last year when he allowed Kuridrani to run past him without even a tackle attempt  in the hope somebody else would tackle him.
However, Kuridrani this year was poor in virtually all games- so he might not be in the Aussie team a all,  Chances are Folau would be their outside center or even Kerevi.  Lost track again of circumstances?

Kerevi spectacular

What a performance from the Reds' centre. Eighteen runs netting 109 metres leaving 6 defenders in his wake. The way he shredded Allende to set up a Reds' try was discouraging. Every time this guy touched the ball he was a threat, a refreshing change from the boring phase running or tractoring of so many of our centers. Having the choice between Kuridrani and Kerevi is a luxury we can only covet.

That is not the point here.  You are talking about Kuridrani - your hero of last year - and I reminded you of Kerevi - your hero this year.

No you made the allegation that I never knew about Kerevi  and Folau at 13 and I stuffed it down your throat. Enjoy your crow.

Himmel - this man is suffering from rank stupidity.   This is the normal classic.  He lied about th Kuridrani issue - was caught out and now repeated the lie.  I reminded him of all his glorification of Kerevi after De Allende had a substandard performance in his first game in Super 1215 this year after a very long injury lay-off and he shouts hurrah - new hero discovered.
Ca n one ever find any logic in your case - I supposed not.

The De Allende saga - where you gave a totally misleading and inaccurate account as to what happened.  Remember that one?

Actually, even though this thread degenerated into the usual childish squabbling we see on any thread involving Moffie these days, this particular thread does demonstrate very clearly what a weak and despicable character Moffie is.

First he says this:

And that's the informed view from Riversdale....Goosen to take on Kuridrani.

Then, after Ou Maaik quite rightly points out to Moffie that Tevita Kuridrani (that's the Brumbies centre for Moffie's benefit) has had a rather anonymous season so far by his high standards, Moffie replies with this pearler . . .

Eat your Crow Tokkie. Man I feel almost sorry for you, so many thrashing so in one day:

Every time this guy touched the ball he was a threat, a refreshing change from the boring phase running or tractoring of so many of our centers.

Ou Maaik then explains to Moffie that he is confusing Kuridrani with Samu Kerevi (the Reds centre for Moffie's benefit).

Everyone else can see that Mioffie has mixed up the two (Moffie hadn't heard of Samu Kerevi until a few weeks ago) so, does Moffie man up and admit his mistake? Not a chance . . . the repulsive little man launches into a whole new "you're the liar" routine and continues spitting venom and shrieking to the heavens.

Wehe . . . so many "thrashing so" (sic) in one day!

Apparently the AAS didn't read it all. This is what I was responding to you dimwitted  lush:

Don't know the difference between Kuridrani and Kerevi when I started a string on Kerevi. And you were so smug........egg city.

You started a thread on any player you thought outplayed any player you dislike - but base your entire preach on a single incident and if there is not ne - you invent one so as to prove a non-existent point  - which is normal with you.   Problem is you repeat that issue three years later as if that incident characterized the career of a player.
Problem is that if you were even-handed and do the same with your favourite player -n your opinion will have some credibility.- but in such cases you try and cover up for deficiencies or keep totally quiet about it in the hope that nobody else would notice it.     It really is silly - but you will never learn.

So let me clarify....you are saying I am invalid because I highlight specific incidents, but I would be valid if I also highlighted those incidents for players I don't supprt. Now there's some logic , hahaha.

Typically ignorant article...the 5 we should have on board are Kitshoff, Willemse, Jacques du Plessis, Bismark and Goosen....so they only got 2 right

Agree Kitshoff, agree Willemse.....very much agree Willemse, agree Bismarck. No more Danie Rossouws...no du Plessis. No more JJs and Kriels ....so no leave Goosen in France.

1. Bismark could have one more year left in him to pass on the mantle to the next generation. (barring Adrian Strauss who is good- but not the same player he was a few seasons ago)
2. PienaarPienaar is solid- I would stick with him while Faff Deklerk is being blooded

3. GoosenAs a flyhalf only. He is too frail for anything else.

4. ThorThor may have lost his hammer for good. By his standards, his world cup was below average after returning from injury.

Funny that your hero Jake White thinks Jacques du Plessis is their best player.
Raves about him all the time....but you know better no doubt

I am a great Jake fan, but I don't agree with everything he believes, rightly or wrongly. In the case of du Plessis he is an awkward size....he isn't a Steph, Snyman, Etzebeth, Willemse or Lomp. One would never choose him at lock ahead of those players.
So we would have to choose him at flank, and to me he is not a body type that succeeds at flank. Rossouw has always been a compromise, honest fans would admit Stephanie was poor at the WC. I can't think of one player as tall as him who has really settled at flank.
So he may be a fine franchise player in the French league, he was okay at the Bools...but we can always do better at Bok level.
You may disagree, but that's my reasoning.

You are wrong Moz.....he is the same size as PSDT...2.01m and 120kg...represented SA in the junior athletic world champs....is more athletic than Lood, PSDT and co hence being comfortable at 7.
He has been the standout forward for Montpellier this season....doing exactly what he did for the Bulls.
This lad is the real deal....far far better and more athletic than Danie Rossouw ever was.
I was spot on about him just like Jake is. Kirsten has been a great find at 7 as have the du Preez twins but du Plessis is the best of the lot.
But saying that given his size and skill I'd be happy to see him partner Etzebeth at lock as I think he is as good as Lood, PSDT, Willemse and Snyman
