Quick question
Of those posters on here who have met each other in person.
Given how things have escalated over the years, between various different posters, with snippets from these meetings being posted and personal info being thrown about which originated from these actual meetings.
How many of you would do it again, with those same posters ?

I have met Dave and Denny personally and once spoke on the phone with Mozart - but have no problem in meeting with the two posters again or for that matter any other posters on this site.
I don't think the unpleasantness on the site is really of any value and importance.   Instead of discussing rugby issues too many of the postings represents personal attacks on individual members.
However, this is quite normal for this time of the year when there is a dearth of SH rugby.   This year there were too many religious and political discussions as well.  Even though that may be interesting to some - it would be better to avoid that kind of discussion and stick to rugby matters,

DA, I won't read too much into these forum fights. The on screen persona's are normally way different than the real person. I have met 2 people I've known on forums for years a while ago. While the one was basically exactly the same as on the forum, the other was familiar, but TOTALLY not what I expected.
From what I have gathered, the people that actually met each other is:
1. Moz and Denny...all went well and they are still friends.2. Saffex and Rooinek...no problem there.3. Saffex and Mike...no real hiccups.4. Saffex and Becs...hunky-dorey.
5. Saffex and Moz...STILL FIGHTING after all these years. Did they get along beforehand? Don't know, before my time, but knowing Dave, I suspect it wasn't plain sailing. Funny thing is, Moz, Denny and Beeno left another forum and started to promote this one to kick some life into it...quite successfully I might add. It didn't take Dave too long to get on board. From where I'm standing, they are enjoying their handbag fights.
As from my own experience of meeting forum personalities? I'll definitely do it again. It is quite an experience to finally put a face to someone who you have known for years...and the ones we disagree with the most on the net might turn out to be the more interesting personalities in real life. Like they say: "Great minds think alike and fools seldom differ"...and who wants to be, or be friends with a fool?

Very true Beeno
Nice reply Db
With all these personal issues between Dave and Moz, it's hard to imagine the two of them wanting or offering to meet each other again, unless it's to finally confirm who is taller than who, and how fat each one is
One can see that some of these "relationships" go back a very very long time, so it's sometimes a pity when one sees the ugly comments stemming from these personal meet and greets that posters have done.
If one poster suddenly stopped posting on here, none of us would be the wiser that that certain poster has passed on, or met some tragic fate

It takes all sorts to make the world go round.

There's no way we'd get along as a happy family.

Just not possible.

We have those who favour the muslim's way of going about things and we have those who look toward them as low lives.

We have those who favour sodomy and those who think it's one of the vilest things on the planet.

We have those favouring the elderly just for the sake of it and those who much prefer the younger stronger generation.

We have those who favour race based selections and those who hate it.

There are many differences that split this board ... and I'm sure that if we ever had to get together for a braai and a cold one, we'd end up sorting ourselves into little groups around the fire ... chatting with those we respect and avoiding those we don't.

The thing is ... what happens when Mozart and Mike have had a little too much wine?

Will there be a few choice words thrown at each other ... or could this spill over into an entertaining bout of fisticuffs ... with the accompanying rolling around in the dust where each attempt to get the other into a headlock?

Will Redneck join in in support of Mike or merely cheer him on with advi ce from the side?

Will Plum approach Tights for a little one on one action as they seem to have so much in common?

Will we witness another sub 10 second sprint from Beeno when Wardad spots him from across the fire?

Will Dave have platform shoes on to prove to us all that he is indeed taller than Mozart.

Will the author of this thread arrive with a base ball bat in the hopes of caving my head in??

There's so much potential for a memorable evening it's frightening.

I've probably met more posters than anyone else and must say I suffer no regrets. I do regret being instrumental to the  Moz and Dave meet, if I remember correctly Dave privately emailed me asking to make it possible. It's a lesson learnt never to be repeated. I've enjoyed all the posters I've met, I've had differences of opinion with some prior to our meet particularly Moz(that might shock a few) Groenbloed(an opregter Afrikaaner) and a wonderful bloke, had a great time on a miserable night at Newlands stadium, then there's MO(NH) a lovely lady(introduced me to their family friend Jake White), Tokkies(Michael) had a wonderful night having dinner at a beach side city town, also Trevor Wilson....spent a few days at his place and met his wonderful wife. Wish I could reciprocate, if you reading this Twilly I can honestly say I love you like a brother and I hope one day to accommodate you at my place. Lastly, there was a kiwi coach floating around on a different site who's been to my place with his lovely wife, don't remember his name but yes we bear no grudges and we do accept kiwis with all their idiosyncrasies.
CYA .... I'm off to watch the cricket.

I have had pleasant meetings with Big Dave, Denny and Sharkie, who briefly appeared on this site...and a phone call with Mike and his chickens.

I'd personally be well interested in watching a few S15 games with some ppl on this site. Would actually be good to watch games with actual fans as opposed to random family members and mates who know much less about the games than most on here.

So if anyone's up for it then lets make it happen. Be warned, i get back at 5am on Sunday from Saturday afternoon rugby games
