Fox fantasy added JL du Plessis and my picks for the week

I emailed Fox Sport about Jean-Luc du Plessis (and I guess about a 1000 other people).
The have added him in Fox fantasy as a real cheap prospect. He is starting on a clean slate though and a steal at $112.
I need to decide if I want him or Barrett in as my backup flyhalf in place of Mo'unga.
Here are my other prospective trades for the week:

1. Lood for PS du Toit - (Etzebeth too expensive). Fifita from the canes was another option but I want a sure starter for most games.
   
2. Mo'Unga is going to lose value fast unless he gets a 100. Barret is doing well and has a couple of " Easy" games coming up. Leaning towards Du Plessis as the stormers have a bunch of "easy" games left aswell and it will free up tons of money.
3. Wanted to trade out Ngatai but I see Halaholo is out for some reason. Moalo (bye next week) and Kerevi are strong contenders but I thing L Zas's  value will skyrocket if he gets full game time. Might bring in De Allende if he starts but I think his value will fall for another game before starting to pick up.
4. Pitty that they took out Ulenga. Wanted to swap out McKenzie, his price is bound to fall sometime and I can always get him at that lower value. Need to decide between Ulenga and McKenzy to be replaced by Savea then (don't laugh too hard).

Any bargains you think I must consider or players that you forsee doing well in the next rounds?

 Probably the most unpleasant fantasy comp out there.
Why even bother with it?  

WD, most of my picks take into consideration what the increase in value for a player will be over the next three rounds. Some of the NZ players'value might decrease so we need to look for new prospects. Take McKenzie for instance, if he get 40 in two more games his 3 round average will be 40 and he might loose $100k or more. Some of the SA teams have "easier" opponents lined up creating the opportunity for high scoring games which translates to the players. The are some prospective SA players that might shoot up in player value which will make for good backup players. Take the Stormers for example.
If somebody like JL du Plessis can go from $112 to $400k in 3 games I can then swap him out for somebody like Cruden or Barrett.
CC, we are a bunch of friends who played on Fox the last couple of years and we do not know of any better. Which platforms do you suggest?

 Chewbaca this is all based on the theory du pleesi well score. Stormers may seem.to have some essy games at home. And I get your pov of value dropping. But its a risk because if you pick du pleesi. And either Stormers dont perform well. Or not well enough to increase players value. Youve got some underperforming players in YOUR squad. Maybe im more conservative haha. But in any case here's my team this we.

That is the problem I guess, all we have are our theories and the risks we are willing to take.
I had some success with guys like Horie, Marx, Coetzee, Tui, Ioane and McKenzie. Where I got them while they where still cheap. But I also failed nad got stuck with Mumm, Reinach, Tei Walden, Hodge and Gelant (some being due to injuries).

 everybody can prefer (and play) whatever fantasy game they choose,..... everyone to his own taste,....... without any doubt,.... but to say that the test rugby is "vastly superior",........ c'mon, man

the test rugby fantasy became antique many years ago,.... and IMO have some big flaws apart from having the ugliest and most unfriendly interface imaginable:

- Once you make a transfer you cannot reverse it back

- You have to do the maths to know if you have enough budget to make the transfers. This means that you have to add all the values of the players you have and wanted to transfer and on the other hand you have to add the budget you have and the values of all the players you want to buy. This is annoying and IMO one of its biggest flaws. This year I quit in the 3rd round because of it,... I had to make 7 transfers,...... search the 7 players I wanted to buy,..... note their value,..... add all their values,..... add the values of the players I wanted to transfer,..... and if you have not enough budget you have to begin again,.... search the players,... add their values,....... etc., etc., etc.,.... I quit

- There are only 12 players (why?) and, mainly, there are no subs,.... when you have a player who is anounced in his team line-up but finally cannot play you are screwed,...  doesn't happen frecuently but happens,..... this season in 2 rounds I had one of this cases

- The value of the players is awkwardly established,..... there are 2 range of values,..... the rookie players have a value btwin 500.000 and 700.000 while all the experienced players have practically the same price, they cost btwin 1.000.000 and 1.200.000,..... and then the value changes in order of how many people buy the player,.... instead of the player's performances

having said this, every fantasy game has his fun,.... and if someone likes playing them I would recomend him to try also the test rugby fantasy,..... I usually start playing all the competitions (6N, SR and RC),..... and I often quit playing, specially the SR which is the longest,..... but I finish some of them also

 Yeah, your right, Basque ... it's more for the an@lytical brain than the version on Fox.
It's tougher, as your team needs weekly maintenance ... whereas with the Fox version (substitutes bench) you can select a team at the beginning of the comp and come back a month later to see how your doing.
It's for the lazy man. 
I guess you forgot about that with the test rugby version and dropped out early ... again.
One has to look ahead ... plan ... use a bit of strategy ... see who's on a by etc.
The better the player does the more popular he becomes ... and so his value increases. 
There are many players below 500k, Basque.
Like you said ... each to his own ... and in my opinion test rugby's version is streeeeeeeeeeeeeetsssssss ahead.
Just an overrall better game if you ask me.

 as I said,... if there's someone who enjoys playing the fantasy games and has not played yet the test rugby's, I would recommend him to try it,...... it's a different game,.... with its flaws,.... but funny,.... I enjoy playing the fantasy and even though I prefer the Fox's I usually start all the competitions avalaible at test rugby's (6N, SR, RC, the British and Irish Lions tour and the WC)

 I know all Province (Stormers ) fans believe and hope that JLDP will be the next catalyst for WP glory...myself included. There were some very positive signs against the Wolves, BUT, he is still very green, it was only the Wolves. The hype is building, but it can implode spectacularly. If a couple of that long passes goes pear, it's 7 points for the opposition...but WP needs someone to spark their attack and ATM he seems to be our only hope.

I will give test rugby's one a try with another tournament to compare the two. Thanks for the info gents.
Draad, I am a closet Sharks fan this year and WP is probably one of the last teams I would support but I hope the du Plessis kid pulls it off.

As for my picks, I made some "drastic changes":SP Marais in for D. McKenzie. Which means I had to drop PS du Toit and is stuck with Lood.I noticed SP Marais (Bulls FB) is averaging 40+. If the Bulls and Reds game is a high scoring game he might capitalise on it and get 43 which means his value can shoot up with $100k. Bulls have a bye next week so I will probably replace him next week again.

I had to retain Ngatai because I am not certain if Halaholo is going to play next week which will leave me with a centre problem then and I will already have to choose perhaps two new props next week.
I have 3 experimental players in so, lets hope it doesn't blow up in my face.

Chewie, selling Damian McKenzie must have made you some serious FR$s as he was valued at over 700 FR$.
The Testrugby.com game is a much better interface than the Fox game but as someone rightly pointed out, it's a bit of a pain having to do the maths . . . but nothing a simple spreadsheet can't resolve.
I play in 4 different Fantasy Super Rugby games. Apart from Fox and Testrugby, I also have a team in Superbru and UDT.
Just by the way, if anyone else is a Tour De France fan, UDT run an excellent TDF Fantasy game . . . my favourite Fantasy game every year!

Which one of the platforms do you prefer Rooi? Or do you like all because each have something unique that you like?
My team value is $8.1mil and I have $754k in the bank should I want to buy him back. Another good buy might be Notshe from the Stormers. If only I had more trades

Chewie, I think it's fair to say each one of the FR comps has pros and cons. 
The Testrugby comp has a very volatile market that is affected by byes and injuries etc and you have limited transfers so you have to plan quite carefully but, on the downside, it's a bit odd that you only pick 12 players and there's also no distinction between hookers and props. It also requires you to do your maths before you make your transfers but nothing that a very basic spreadsheet can't resolve.
The Superbru game has a very simple and user-friendly interface but there's no money market so you can basically just buy all the best players (and use the other FR games to find the best value). It's also a bit too generous with trades as long as you stay within the 4 trades per round limits.
The UDT game has a market anmd it also has a friendly interface but it prices seldom get adjusted and it's also a bit too lenient in terms of transfers. You also get reserves who score you half points every round so it's important to keep a full squad active if you can.
The Fox game has a clumsy and unfriendly interface but it does have a very volatile market and limited transfers which means you have to plan ahead to some extent. If you'd asked me last year I would have said it was the best of the FR games but they've messed it up this year . . . I can hardly read the prices, the trading interface is painstaking and cumbersome. They've also completely messed up the League system and it's now all about the random head-to-head wins rather than total cumulative scores.
Like I said, each one has it's pros and cons and half the fun is understanding what tactics to use for the different games. I'm doing okay in all of them except the Fox game in which I suck big time this year. Bit weird because as far as possible I try to stick with the same players.
