apart from having his ass handed to him again like it has been given to him for the past 3 years what has francois louw actually done to warrant a pick in the rwc squad

Media backing. It makes all the difference. It helped Bismarck (thought he was #1 this year until today), Lambie, Reinach, Serf, Watson, Mvovo, Pienaar, amongst others. Brussow would have destroyed Japan at the breakdown. He outplayed New Zealand this year, so that would have been enough for me.

Ask Meyer - he would tell you he knows what Louw is capable of - forgetting when he was "capable of" and that it was a long time ago.   The same applies to a dozen other dud selections of Meyer.

hahaha mike
to be fair louw has never been capable of anything but chucking pies at the side of the ruck while he watches others compete for the ball.
the most useless 'open sider' in south african rugby history. the poor mans brussouw. but he still plays week in and week out.
if meyer had any inch of self respect he would resign

Louw has been useless for some time now....done nothing at Bath either.
But our idiot coach says he is our best open side.
Coetzee, Jaco Kriel, Brussouw, Carr, Kolisi, Kwagga Smith and Chris Cloete are all better than Louw.

I don't think Louw was necessarily a bad pick, but the lack of options picked apart from him is bad.

Brussouw deserved to be there, so did Coetzee. To go to the world cup without a recognized fetcher is criminal.

I've not been keeping up with the currie cup recently, those who have, how's kwagga smith been playing? has he transfered his skills to the 15's well?

Louw needs power around him to succeed. Without Duane and Alberts he flounders, but is still the lesser of the three. Brussow can play on a pack that is being manhandled and still outplay his opposite. He can be the focal point and concedes far fewer costly penalties than Louw or cards for that matter. Since last year the balance in the loose trio has been disturbed through petsistent injuries and we just don't have the personnel to compensate for it. It has been the foremost crux to the team and why we are struggling to generate momentum. Nobody can replace Duane or Alberts, though Schalk has played manfully in Alberts absence, certainly more dynamic. Added to that our props are ailing and there is no clear answers for their replacements.

Wrong APD he was a poor squad selection. There are many better options. Alberts was another pathetic selection.

spot on fox....brussouw is pure pure class but only a ignorant fool wont see his value he adds to the breakdown. louw was raped at the breakdown as per usual but somehow he just drifts his way through without much notice. much like his game play.
the most overrated player along with pienaar. not international material at all

Desert Disaster lives in a dreamworld where he believes the public and the media influence selections by our coaching stooge.   If that was the case Matfield would have been out altogether.
He carries on about Alberts and somehow dreams that Louw needs Alberts - who never gets to breakdowns and if he does stands around at the back thereof in the company of another useless player (Matfield) competing for the ball to be passed to them if somebody manage ti recover the ball and then gets tackled a meter further if it does come to either of them.
Go can Alberts help Louw in loosie play?   Alberts never was an acceptable loosie - he is too clumsy and useless to be one - so how does he contribute to Louw's performances.

Muncher, I think Brussouw playd in 3 matches since the last RWC. I'd rather have Kriel in as the openside with the eye on the future. Louw has been out for a while, a s was Alberts. Stupid not to have at least one other fit loosie with the same qualities in the side.

Brussouw had his arse handed to him against Argentina. Never threatened and was cleaned out with ease. You all are parroting journalist and social media myths. Brossouw was ineffective.

Kriel is a much better option.

The ABs bring on their subs & they go up a gear, we bring on ours & stall . Frankly I don't think who we pick will make a significant difference . We've a fairly ordinary team with very few superstars (if any) . Minnowland just might be our destiny .
