George Smith...England's player of the year at 35

SA player of the year was 23 in Lood, with Irelands player of the year in CJ being 25 ......so whats your point?

His point is that Smith is 36 years of age.   He judges players on age and he find an occasional player that match his theory that players gets better with age.        

Yeah we have one old man picking up the award but the awards are dominated by youngsters in general......for the obvious reason that youngsters are better than old players who are past their best.
There is a reason the Super teams are dominated by youngsters.....be they the Kiwi, Oz or SA sides.

There is not a single old player who is better than any youngsters in SA.....the only ones that would be pushing are Bismark and Strauss at 2.....but are they better than new boy Marx......its borderline.....for the rest, the old boys dont come close. 

 Dont want to get into this age debate so saying that I think George Smith deserved the award. He has been huge for Wasps this season and I think this allowed for Nathan Hughes to play the way he does as well.
Saffex, what do you think of Hughes in the 8 Jersey for England after he qualifies in July. Vunipolas gonna have a hard time keeping him out.

And this year Lomp looks like last year's news...except of course he was hopeless in the knockouts.
