Rebels scrumhalf Nic Stirzaker was yellow-carded for stamping on Richie McCaw against the Crusaders


Ban: One week ban




Rebels No 8 Scott Higginbotham was also cited for stamping on McCaw

Ban: No ban (deemed accidental)

Reds lock James Horwill after receiving two yellow cards - and subsequent red - for repeated infringements

Ban: No ban (good disciplinary record)







Round 2

Blues lock Hayden Triggs cited after red card for punching Stormers skipper Duane Vermeulen in the face

Ban: One week ban




Highlanders prop Kane Hames cited for punch on Crusaders' lock Dominic Bird

Ban: Five week ban

Crusaders prop Owen Franks cited for "striking or punching" a Highlanders opponent.

Matches in Australia

Everyone stamps on Riche Mccaw, including the referee, mascot and cheerleaders. 

No sentence.




Matches in South Africa. 

Someone stamps on Mccaw. 

All south African players get cited, even the players in the extended squad. 

The coaches get cited for making comments in their private booth.




Matches in New Zealand

The citing process has allready been scheduled before South African players arrive. 

Mccaw misses a match through marriage leave, no one stamps on Mccaw except his new wife- 

3 members of each South African team are cited.

That was a particularly despicable offense, standing over & punching an oak who's prone on the deck . Sies . Typical downunder thuggery .

Just heard that Franks gets 2 weeks for his foul play .

Well it's working because I haven't seen a lock chasing & head butting a half back lately 

 The bias against Saffas is shocking but we soldier on regardl ess without a word of complaint by the SA authorities

 Can't see how Hames got 5 weeks when Franks had TWO cheap shots and only misses one game!

 good to see we can fit a oh woe is south africa im[;ication in the title, even when  no south africans are cited,

the inconsistencies might seem annoying, but it was done so cos the higher ups deem some strikes more severe than others.
the problem here is that those in charge have interpretations which clearly a lot of people dont agree with.

kane hames 5 week ban is ridiculous, as was ardies ban at the start of last year for lifting.

Funny stuff
Surprised Triggs only got a week for punching the face. Maybe because there was no video of the incident? Those visuals can easily prejudice the sentence.

Maybe you should look at another thread on this topic - where the judicial officer made a comment on his reason for the sentence.   It had nothing to do with the issue at stake - everything to do with the outcome of the match.   In reality it is an attack on the referee for even acting against Triggs - since it meant a turnaround in a penalty awarded to the Blues - which they could have converted and taken the lead in the game. 
His comments represents little more than an attack on the referees for handling the matter as they did.
