To be honest I think not. It's a bit like riding a motor cycle these days....injury can happen at any time.

I am seriously upset that Jean got injured so badly and I do not think he would return to play rugby again. He always gives his best for the team - and was regarded by me and many others as the best rugby captian in workd rugby - a absolute gentleman.
However, as Mozart said I cannot see him returning to play rugby again and even Meyer implied as such in subsequent comments. A sad way to see that happening and his career ending on such a sad note.
May he recover 1900% and not suffer permanent consequnces as a result of that injury.

I watched the game the day after it was played and new of Jeans injury and was wondering when it occurred. I heard the cries of pain in the back ground and new that was it. Would be a big thing to come back from. Hope all goes well for him.

A real gentleman and sportsman. Trust he recovers fully from that injury but I fear his playing days are over.Unfortunate way to go out.
Thanks Jean for everything you did for SA Rugby.

He's a goner.
Now we'll see whether your favourite center combo of Serfontein and De Allende can do any better.
Serfontein playing crashball at the Bulls has robbed him of his natural talent and under Dumbass Meyer it'll be no different.
Personally, I would prefer something like Burger Odendaal and Paul Jordaan ... or De Allende and Jordaan ... or a Mnisi and De Jongh.
Where is Robert Ebersohn?
Specialists in every position. No playing out of position ... that includes tighthead.
Well done Mr Meyer. Your fear of blooding our talent has left us with our dicks in our hands.

Sorry to see that Jean was injured & injured very badly according to all accounts. Not only did he serve Bok rugby very well in terms of his playing but he was a classic gentleman & I always felt he represented rugby well whenever he played or spoke of the game.
He had a dry sense of humo r too, who can forget his reaction to the "typo" when the Boks played the ABs, lol
I hope he recovers well & that the injury is not as bad as it seemed. A great bloke for sure!

Jean isa Bok great - best center in the world at his peak. What a fine character epitomising the cultural elegance of the Western Province.
Very sad way to go out! Lets hope for a miracle as J ean was sill worth his place in a RWC squad.

Jan should think joining WP so he and Allende can grow as a center combo.

Sorry to hear about the injury, but Jean has been struggling this year. Perhaps it's time we move on.

Was very sad to see; worst part was when he yelled just after getting injured, can't even begin to imagine the pain.Hopefully he recovers fully, and enjoys a well earned retirement.

I can tell you from experience how excruciating the pain is. I cringe when I see it, like Toomu's in 2012 . It was very hard to watch the replays.

Wishing him and his family a speedy recovery from the injury.
