Saffex went to Graeme College in Grahamstown in Eastern Cape.

He will be proud of this lad. He lost his leg by amputation but now with a new prosthetic blade is too take up athletics.

Admirable yes indeed, the lad has spirit and courage.

I thought it was a rugby related injury for moment.

It was rugby related. He dislocated his knee in a game. Was taken to a hospital in PE, was discharged that evening and woke up in agony. Was rushed back by which time the major artery had been compromised. Was told he needed an amputation as septicaemia was inevitable but the family refused to give permission. After about 4 or 5 days after keeping the leg in ice the family were convinced to authorise the amputation As old boys we have been raising funds for the lad

Wow. That's rough.

His life is forever changed because of incompetent medical staff.

Any chance of bringing malpractice charges against the hospital?

Saffex is right...this is what makes him so admirable...instead of making him bitter from a medical botch up, he chooses the brave way out to make some good out of it. So admirable, it's nice to see that some youngsters have humility and guts to overcome such circumstances. What a lovely, complete character.

What a unfortunate story but thankfully a great young man with courage and positive outlook on life.

Wish him all the best for his strength in handling such an injury and loss at such a young age.

He has accept the changes in his life and is on his way to greater and better days with his strength, determination and untold courage.

Has a fund been set up for him?

If so could anyone who has the info on the fund please post it.

Appreciated.
