Centre A, carried the ball 11 times for 108 metres, 3 clean breaks 2 defenders beaten, two tries and an assist.

To be quite frank neither Serfontein nor Jesse Kriel were up to standard in Super 15 and I would have picked a player like Janse van Rensburg ahead of Serfontein for the Springbok squad.  Personally I think Serfontein and Kriel got picked because they had some international experience - but unless there is a vast improvement in their performances I think they are on a short lease.       

 Every time you invest in a player you don't invest in others. Serfontein and Kriel will weigh down any portfolio. They will never be test centres of substance.

 Oh what utter fucking rubbish. Serfontein has been fantastic this Super series.
Kriel has been less of a force much like de Allende and much like Kurandrani for the Brumbies or Fekitoa was this season....but these guys all have the x factor confirmed at test level...you invest and show faith.

Class lasts as long as the man is on form.
When his form goes out the window so does his so called class.
Besides ... Jesse Kriel doesn't have either. Especially not in the mid field.  
How did he ever get selected with the season he's had????????

Rohan Janse van Rensburg showed Serfontein how to play at 12 last night. Serfontein impressed at junior level but has never managed the step up to play with the big boys.
Would much rather have Venter in the squad than either of these two .  

 Agree with you - CC.  The norm "Form is temporary - class is permanent" is one of the most abuse of all sayings by the prejudiced.  I was very disappointed by Jesse Kriel this year - and only slightly less by Serfontein - their performances bordered on the negative in virtually all games they played in.  However, they had dud flyhalfs playing inside of them - which could have affected their own performances.      

To be fair to Kriel he got picked to play for the Boks at 13 through his form at fullback, great fullback back struggling at outside center. 
Serfontein had a great first and second season in the Super 15 but for the past two years he has really regressed.

 Serfontein has been a big nothing all his senior career. Yesterday he was humiliated by an unheralded centre who gassed him easily though the outside gap. He has not been fantastic he has been bog ordinary.
Kriel is worse,  another light boned player who simply can't complete a tackle. The thought of Kriel vs Kuridrani or Folau isn't scary it's just funny.

We have poor memories don't we... 

 It's an age thing....perhaps Step ran gloriously through the outside gap, gassing SBW.....perhaps  Kriel never missed the Japanese centre at the RWC. These emeritus memories never work very well Shezza.

 The problem with Mozart is he only remembers individual mistakes of players he dislikes, but does not remember mistakes made and poor play by players he likes.  He will write about the same mistake for years afterwards.   However, that is not he way it should be.  What is to be considered is the present performances of players.  In this case I do think that both Serfontein and Kriel are not performing on a level where they should be selected to play test rugby.     

 Combined they made 3 meters in 4 carries against the Stormers....or was it 4 meters in 3 carries? These are crucial distinctions.....I mean if it was 4 meters in 3 carries their productivity is up by 78%.

Unless they improve their performances on senior level - I would skip both Serfontein and Kriel in future and look at players like Harold Vorster and Van Rensburg .  Vorster is unfortunately injured and did not play any rugby this Super Rugby tournament this year bar about 30 minutes when he came back prematurely from injury.  He is one to watch in future.  

 Van Rensburg should have been selected. But again how good would Mapoe and Van Rensburg be in a less skilled Bulle team. The Lions are light years ahead of other SA teams when in comes to playing as a team.But alas we have quota coach alistair coetzee and a handful of quota players !
