Ex Keo

French reports are that Bryan Habana will see out his club career with Toulon.

The club, who boast Springboks Joe van Niekerk and Bakkies Botha among an overseas laden senior squad, have made it public that Habana has been signed.

Habana will still be eligible for Springbok selection.

The Western Province and former Bulls wing, crowned IRB World Player of the Year in 2007, produced a season of equal substance in 2011 and was deservedly named South Africa’s Player of the Year.

Habana is the only South African rugby player outside of Naas Botha to win the coveted SA Player of the Year award three times.

He has won every title in the game, with the highlight being the 2007 World Cup with the Springboks. He has won a Tri Nations, a British and Irish Lions series in South Africa, Super Rugby and Currie Cup titles with the Bulls and the Currie Cup with Western Province.

He is also the greatest try sorer in Springbok rugby’s history.

Habana has played for Western Province since 2009.

This is very bad news. If its not enough fo  us to be propping up the sharks and bulle with playrs we now have to prop up Toulon.

These NH parasites are doing their naional sides no good . carry on like this and how many player will be French!

Digusting stuff from toooolon.

Hey guys remember a players career is a short one in terms of life span.

You cannot blame players for going after the money to establish a nest egg for later years.

Also the SA currency is like monolopy money in world financial circles...so the guys are now realising that they can earn real bucks by playing overseas and earning money that when converted to Rands means something for later years.

We all do it,,,,some call it a trade or business career that they pursue and chase the big bucks..

These stars call it professional sport.

Hats off to them.

i dont blame the players, it is the World Rugby system that is shit.

Basically we should not allow the Northern Hemishpere crappy game to steal out players

For money..Fair enough but I think its silly on the part of France. How is this benefitting the game in France. How is using a guy like Habana (nothing left to prove-he was the greatest wing of his era) going to benefit French rugby when some 19- 21 year old kid with talent and a chance of becoming a Habana one day has to miss out? Not doing good for the game in the long run over there. I would rather have guys that are eligible to represent the country getting the experience and exposure than paying big money to a guy who can not benefit your country. He may be able to immediately benefit the club but what is that worth in a few years time when your country is still battling to beat the 3 big guns regularly?

Professional rugby or sport for that matter...There is only two things that is certain about it..1. You will never understand the logic..2. NZL is the ONLY team that is drug and performance enhancement free...(according to Poi-e and co...)

Nobody can blame Habana for cashing in but 2013 was the year we were hoping the Stormers would win the Super 15 Cup and this defintely does nothelp.

Its a bit like soccer premier leaugue we locals are denie dchances. Cant do their rugby any good.

As for the kiwis they live in a bubble.

I posted a bit on backingblack.co.nz giving reasons why the abs were on the skids. The post didnt go through although a few of my other ones did (I suspect sensorship as I tried the skids post twice). I will try again today. It appears that they cant take any opposition views. I maybe wrong and the post today goes through -we shall see. Another point made to me by a blogger was that a number of saffas had been banned. It all points to a very inward looking, wimpy, denialist and intolerant set up.

These are prelimianry conclusions.

I felt the only decent thing to do was to go and warn all unsuspecting kiwis re the abs being on the skids.
