Has John Smit being asked to leave his job as CEO of the Sharks

Smit is leaving the Sharks at the end of the season - a lot of high-faluting praise songs - but was his bugger-ups forgiven.   There were the cases of -
*   the firing of Plumtree and the dithering afterwards;*   all the has-beens and ever-as-beens he brought in from NH clubs;*   the appointment of Jake White and the subsequent firing of him within a year;*   the loss of support by the Pblic noticeable since 2014 - when Whit was blamed publicly for lack of crowd support.
There is no indication where Smit is off to - so we cannot be sure what actually happened, but I think he failed in his performa nce as CEO 

I was at school with John Smit, very nice guy, very good captain....shart CEO. The Sharks seemed to have no direction with him running the show. I wish him all the best for th e future, but if I were a sharks player I'd be celebrating! 

Smitty should have been honest with himself...playing rugby physically and marshalling his troops is a different game with huge differences than business administration and the foresight in acu men...he should have realised his limitations much earlier on.

A huge lesson in life...he would have been remembered with greater affection and appreciation for his high achievements on the field...he did not belong in the office...society makes a huge error when they think a battlefield hero leader can administrate business. Anyway a great rugby player and lets remember him for that. Lets wish him the best for the future and appreciate those things he was very good at. Not really a square peg in a round hole...more likely a round peg in an oval hole.

His appointment was a token one based on his achievements as Bok captain. It is silly to appoint a sports person with no business experience to run a company. 
It is much worse than making a good player a coach. Imagine starting your first day of work as the boss- how nice.

I agree . . . a good player (in fact a great player in his early years), a great captain and he seems a really nice bloke . . . but a disaster as Sharks CEO!

We Shark fans had great affection for our hero and indeed wish him the very best in future endeavours...thank you John for what you did on the field...one of the great Springbok captains.

sbes right though, being a good player dosent make u a good CEO, and if it wasnt for his status rouind natal, they would have realised this.
but this type of foolish job selection happens everywhere, blackadder is one of the crusaders favourite sons, but he should have been fired as the coach years ago.
its insane that he left on his own terms, and if he didnt play his rugby for the saders back in the days, i think he would have.
