The biggest mistake HM has made so far is to confuse the flyhalf position by introducing Lambie. Largely I rhink because Lambie is more of a kicking flyhalf, more of a direct substitiute for Morne.

Lambie is not a bad player and he is a real candidate for fullback if something goes wrong with Willie. But he can't impose himself at10 in close games, witness yesterday. His best attacking option is the cut onto the ball at an angle, a fullback or outside back strategy....not the hard run to the line Pollard executes so well.

Lambie will fade as this long S15 season winds on

This from SArugbymag.

Handré Pollard is something special
Pollard was dropped by Heyneke Meyer after the Boks' loss to Ireland last November, with Pat Lambie starting at flyhalf against England, Italy and Wales. But the 20-year-old showed in Bloemfontein on Saturday that he will be a serious contender for the No 10 jersey at the World Cup, with a Man of the Match display that saw him score a try and kick three conversions, five penalties and a drop goal for a 29-point haul. Pollard's try was similar to the one he scored against the All Blacks at Ellis Park last year as he showed a willingness to attack the line, carrying the ball nine times and beating three defenders. His goal-kicking was flawless and his tactical kicking accurate, allowing the Bulls to exit their 22 when under pressure. It was a performance that would have given Meyer a lot to think about at this early stage of the season.

 There is no problem with Pollard - at this stage he is the best flyhalf in Super 15 and an automatic choice as starting flyhalf.
The best bench flyhalf by a mile will be Lambie.   Your idea of him is a bad joke and shows the lack of objectivity insofar as player performances are concerned.   Lambie's main problem thus far thiss eason was the serious center deficiencies of the Sharks - he dared not passed balls to them because they would mess up big time.   So yesterday the fanfares were loud as ever, Francois Steyn and Pietersen will solve the Sharks center problem.   They were as weak - if not weaker - than the players used in rounds 1 to 3.   Fransie was made to look like an absolute fool and Pietersen was standing around as if he was not sure whether he was on a rugby field or not.
There is no difference between the Fransie yesterday and the Fransie we saw in Super 15 in 2013 and 2014.   The worst attacking center in the whole of Super 15 and one of the worst in defense.
So what do you expect from Lambie - what must he do with two hopeless cases outside of him?   All he can do is try his best and he will be cause he is a determined sportsman.   How will he fade out during the remainder of Super 15?

My idea of him is grounded in his performance in the last two S15s, against Wales and again yesterday. A flyhalf who fades under pressure. Think about that. I'm off to see Tosca and look forward to you finally having one original idea for me when I get back from the Opera and a nice steak at the Chicago cut.

When last did you come up with anything original in rugby?

 Lambie is  fine flyhalf but Pollard is a great one. Fortunate to have the both.Will Meyer get this right. Last years selections by Meyer robbed one of a lot of confidence in the amn. Can he get back on track. Firing wee matfiled is number 1 on the list.

Lambie was again good for the Sharks on the weekend as he has been all S15 and he was great against England. Pollard is better as he provides a physical edge.

Just a bit of info on Pollard and Lambie
When I selected Pollard as my flyhalf in the Foxsport competition before Round one of  Super 15  -  his contract value was set at $306 500 - it is now $488 800.   Lambie's initial price was $372 000 - it is now $419 200.
That shows what participants think of Lambie compared to what Mozart thinks of him. of

 Lambie is no Bok superstar...yet, but he is solid enough. Pollard is also a bit green and although I believe he has lots more potential, his strategy lets him down some games. Both are works in progress, but they are the best we have ATM. Morne's ship has sailed.

I agree with you - Morne's ship has sailed, but it was very late in sailing - should have left in September 2012 not during 2014.   Meyer made absolutely sure he overstayed his welcome.

We are in exactly the same place as the last two S15s. Lots of Lambie hype, based on very little but the boot. As the pressure mounts that too will fade.....it's down hill from here. The lad is a fullback.

What are the chances of him becoming one, after almost five years and 40 test caps? Bear in mind that after all of the above there is still speculation about his best position.

The following statement deserve a clear reply:-
" Bear in mind that after all of the above there is still speculation about his best position."
The so-called speculation here is in the mind of the dunces on this site.   It is not about his best position that there are speculation at all.   Lambie is equally adept in both positions - there are indeed talented players that can vary their positions - especially insofar as full back and flyhalf play is concerned.
It goes way over the head of the dunces that Lambie is an excellent bench player - since he can be utilized in more than one position.   Comprehende?

He is fine on the bench. If Lambie starts in the WC he will be a target. De Allende shook off Lambie and Coetzee like two fleas. He can't prevent the offload in 10 channel, that writes the opponents play book.

Now lets get it straight - De Allende first shook off two other players as well - Fransie and JP - Fransie landing on his backside as a result.   So there were 4 fleas on the field of play - why not the full story, imbecile?

Mozart whats wrong with you my China...if Patrick does what SA expects of him, whioh I fee inl Patricks heart ( a real go getter and confidence and humble belief...PL has these attributes). then acknowledge him in same way Ol' Maaik will acknowlege WA and FS if they come to the party in WC challenges....one part of rugby...when you become part the rugby world...you prove it, even though selectors have over kissed you. These guys, Mikie are stars and will perform in the relativvely slow sludge of Europe.

I have no problem with Lambie, but I would rather he understudies Willie at 15....while Pollard is allowed to settle into the 10 berth, without a lot of chopping and changing.

 Why on earth would you want Lambie as an understudy to Willie at 15 when he is not a 15 but a damn good 10? Especially when you consider how good Jessie Kriel is and the obvious understudy to Willie.
If Pollard is your first choice 10 then logic dictates that Lambie would be your bench 10.

The WC squad consists of 32 players and routinely includes a total of 18 forwards and 14 backline players.
Insofar as the backline players are concerned the situation would be as follows:
*   3 scrummies*   3  flyhalfs*   3  Wings*   3  Centers*   2  full backs *   1  Wing/center
In the 3 flyhalf category it is possible to include -
  *   Pollard  *   Lambie  *   Goosen
In the 2 full back category it could include -
   *   Le Roux   *   Kriel
In the 3 center situation it could possibly be -
   *   De Allende   *   Serfontein   *   ????

Lambie has played as a WC QF starting fullback...he played far better in that game, than he did against Wales at 10. Lambie is never going to dominate 10 channel. He is going to lie deep in the pocket and kick. His game against the Poms was saved by a set move  chip kick and a drop.He is going to be smeared if he tries to run, but don't take my word for it by the end of the S15 it will be obvious.....again.

Just as an aside "Vlag every year we go through this Lambie stuff, I think it's the Sharks publicity agent."
How did the "Lambie stuff" happened last year in Super 15?   Remember he was injured early in teh season and only returned very late - so the "publicity agent" story and the "Lambie stuff"  is standard Mozart BS.
Why do you write  crap and then repeat it endlessly?

 He was injured in the game against the Bulls last year - which made it a week from now beng a year since the injury.   So that does not mean "every year we have to go through the "Lambie stuff" imbecile.  Lambie was hardly discussed last year as a potential Springbok flyhalf - when so only when the impossibly poor Steyn came into the picture.   Up to this stage Pollard was not i n the Bulls team either - he started by being on the bench in April I believe.
The reason why Lambie's name is mentioned week after week this year is because of your constant false and ridiculous tirades against him - nothing else.   It is because of that stupidity on your part that he is constantly in the spotlight - somebody had to defend him against your stupid attacks.
That is another reason why your statement is so flawed - there is no publicity stunt here - there is a clarification to combat the nonsense you write constantly.

In view of the 6 Nations there is not a lot of top level club rugby played at present.  Goosen was injured and got married in on 7 February - so he has since January only had 2 matches where he came off the bench in the last two games of Racing Metro.
Goosen played less than 20 minutes rugby for Racing Metro since 1 January 2015 - so there was nothing much to report.
So lets ask the same simple question about your hero - Morne Steyn - what happened to him since 1 January 2015:-
Game against Lyon
Morne Steyn was in the staring line-up.  Dismal performance - no attacking skill - poor defense - gave away a penalty and was yellow-carded.
Game against Castres
Morne Steyn not even on the bench

Game against Oyonnax
Morne Steyn not even on the bench

Game against Bayonne
Morne Steyn on the bench - Came on at minute 67 and did squat of note.
Game against Bordeau Begles
Morne Steyn got his second starting line-up game this year.   For a change did good ball carries beating NO defenders - but at least he showed something.  Otherwise poor in performance - lost possession once - poor tackle record gave away penalty.
Here you have the full report on both Goosen and your hero Morne Steyn - feeling happy now??

Oh what rubbish......Lambie's best spot by some distance is 10.......he wont be playing 15 in a hurry as there is no need for him to play there.

He was fantastic against England and there was nothing wrong with his game against Wales. He has been good at 10 all S15 this year.

We have 3 great 10's in Pollard, Lambie and Goosen.....that wont change

We have class at 15 in Willie and Kriel......that wont change

Its the obvious choices

 I knew that ou Maaikie. Was just checking if you are keeping up. By all accounts you have not watched the games and are purely relying on your beloved little strings of stats. I have told you before, I am not all that interested in how Stade Francais is going. I mostly watch the Toulon games. I do know that Steyn was suspended though.
Be that as it may, my remark was mainly because of you including Goosen in the "WC squad" while he hardly features for his club side and is clearly a back-up at this stage. He seems to be down to third choice at the moment.

He was adequate against England in a pure kicking role....nothing more. He is a better fullback, but I still prefer willie.

As for you Moronic by this time last year there was huge Lambie hype.....that was my point you fool.... early hype.

Balls you stupid modala - the issue of Lambie is not a topic at this stage - bar when you go bananas after each game he played in.
Anyway we all know by now that your assessment of players is useless showing no insight as to the game of rugby and your rants is not worth anything of value in discussion of player performance assessment.
Why do you in virtually every post you write end up referring to Lambie or Serfontein?   Do you have the hots for them?
Now run off and stop showing more idiocy in every post you make - you bloody old liar.

This is not the first time that he has been third in line. BTW, what was his injury about and when?
As far as I know, the so-called selling off of Morne Steyn was a BS story in the end. It surfaced before the 2014/15 season and he is still there and no further rumours have surfaced about it after he and his club denied it.
