 Dave
Please you have now opened the door for another Mozart onslaught on those two.  They were great against Toulon and are excellent prospects - but you should know Mozart will denigrate them before he has seen a single match they played in.

Saffex these twins are unique...rather like Bismarck and Jannie at Grey Bloem but they are twins...probably will both represent SA...a milestone in world rugby...losing to Kearsney was unheard of...in my day...Maritzburg College 52 Kearsney 0.

This a worthy topic...the school coach predicted the destiny of these twins...I think it will be the first time any rugby side will 2 players born on the same day and delivered by the same mother...how proud for the parents

I have not seen them play, but it is clear they have physicality by all reports.              Are they clones of Alberts, or do they also have brains and skills is the question that is going to be answered during Super XV

Shark please don't mention Willem Alberts ...it will set Ol' Maaik off...incidentally EDITOR who won the "ALBERTS  PRIZE" competition...should have been a restaurant dinner with Willem,Ol'Maaik,Saffex, Mozart,Rooinek and Beeno at a Umhlanga Rocks restaurant...if only I had big bucks I would set this up and film it...this would make a real life comedy...maybe even an Oscar...star ring Clevermike,Rooinek,Beeno,Saffex,Mozart  and Willem, ofcourse ...I wish I was rich...the comedy of the year...

I would give you a nice reply they are everything Alberts is not and have never been -   They are tall and athletic and big - very big.  They are very industrious and productive - something you could never accuse Alberts of being.

They both look like fantastic prospects . The Kiwis have the Ioane brothers and we have these du Preez monsters.
Imagine being the slack-jawed imbecile who reckons there's no talent to replace the old time retirees in this country?

They are freaks....have a real physical edge....can't tell them apart. They bullied the Toulon players at times. Not bad for 20 year olds.
Their older brother at WP looks a really useful 10 in the Pollard mould.
Seriously talented family...with Robert as the father.
Rooi those Ioane brothers are something else especially the bigger one who was the star of last year's U20 WC....he is one hell of a 8...won't be long before he gets a test cap

APD no that match is not on UK telly but I watched the Toulon game on YouTube last night so am guessing the Toulouse one will be at some point as well.
Esterhuizen at 12 was very good for the Sharks as was Reinach....but the stand outs were the du Preez twins bagging a try each

SA schoolboy size and conditioning improving a great deal
January 17, 2013, 11:05:41

Ex Keo

Kearsney’s Du Preez twins, lock Daniel and flank Jean-Luc, are expected to make a huge impact in South African schools rugby in 2013.

They have both played in two U18 Craven Week tournaments for KwaZulu-Natal and were also selected for the 2012 SA Schools squad that went unbeaten in an U18 international series against France, Wales and England.

SA Schools coach Chris October was impressed with their powerful performances.

They are very big boys [Jean-Luc stands at 1.93m and weighs 105kg, while Daniel stands at 1.96m and weighs 101kg] and they gave the team a physical edge up front,’ he says. ‘The conditioning and size of South Africa’s schoolboys has improved a great deal in recent years, but the Du Preez brothers are setting the benchmark. It’s scary that they’re only 17 years old.’

The Du Preez twins were born and raised in Durban, where they started their schooling at Durban Preparatory High School before enrolling at Kearsney. They will play their third year of 1st XV rugby in 2013.

Provincially, both players represented KZN at U12 and U13 levels before being elevated straight into the U18 Craven Week squad in 2010.

The physicality and intensity at a more senior age-group level was definitely an eye-opener for us,’ says Jean-Luc. ‘But we place a big emphasis on our conditioning and training. We managed to adapt quickly and the experience we’ve gained over the past two years will help us become better players.’

An interesting switch in 2013 will see Daniel make a transition from the second row to eighthman.

They played Daniel in the loose trio in the SA Schools side, so I think that will be his future position,’ says Kearsney 1st XV coach Barend Steyn. ‘Daniel and Jean-Luc should complement each other well. They are big and can carry the ball strongly, but they also have the ability to compete for possession at the tackle points. Daniel will be an extra lineout option too.’

The Du Preez twins are both excited about the positional switch.

‘I’m looking forward to playing alongside Jean-Luc in the loose trio,’ says Daniel. ‘I know I’ll have to contribute more as a loose forward, but it’s a switch I’m excited to make.’

Daniel and Jean-Luc will join older brother, flyhalf Robert, at the Sharks Academy after school. The three played rugby together at school and junior provincial levels in 2010.

‘Rob is doing well at the Sharks Academy,’ says Jean-Luc. ‘We want to be based at a union where we will all be together, so it was an easy decision to make. We also enjoy the type of game the Sharks play. We’ll settle in nicely.’

Good to see the youngsters being well prepared. The switch to loosie seems a sensible move given their height etc.

Height and weight please of these  twins.
Yes we have a conveyor belt of young players all ready to move to Europe or be fouled up here by brain dead coaches. There cant be any rugby country that makes less of its resources. But here's hoping these two lift the dismal sharks this year.

Read the article please.  There is a mistake though.  Jean-Luc is 1.94 meter tall and weighs 113 kgs.  Dan is 1,96 meter tall and weighs 112 kg.  No real difference noticeable when they are on the field of play.

"Read the article please."

Yeah right . . . like that's going to happen!

Getting information into Baboon-ou's immensely thick skull is not as simple as just putting the imformation there for him to read. You have to spoon-feed it to him very slowly and very patiently in manageable chunks, all the time making sure he hasn't flown off on some other tangent.

The problem with the Sharks last year was multiple - but they had a few handicaps which buggered them up.  The worst ones were -
*   Fat Fransie who comprehensively sabotaged their backline play;*   Willem Alberts who when he did play was absolutely useless; and*   Dr Jannie - who was a "nul op 'n kontrak" from a rugby perspective
The Sharks were also done in by injury problems and the banning of Bismarck du Plessis.   I nearly added Fat fransie's ban to the list - but his banning did not have a real impact on performance.  The injuries and bannings put the limited player resources at the  disposal of the Sharks under serious pressure.
The Sharks did well in France - but one would have to see whether they will do well in Super Rugby.   I think they still have problems - their prop resources for example - but their backline did function better than it did since Plumtree's departure when Fat Fra nsie was not playing.   .

There is just no talent in this country :) They were unlucky in the U21 WC last time out. Wish them all the best this time round. If the were to play with Robert at the same club surely it would set some kind of record for amount of family members in the same team.

I think they did play with Robert at some stage or another.   Robert is apparently the brainy one - he went to study at Stellenbosch before being picked way too late for the WP team in CC last year. Coetzee picked Catrakillis and Coleman - both really useless ahead pf him as flyhalf.

Plum...you are too young...their dad Robert set up the most effective 9 and 10 partnership in SA rugby...he was a big scrummy...he was also an extra loosie around the scrums with a massive pass that enabled Naas
to excel at dead-eye di ck drop goals and breaks on backline...led to Northern Transvaal success...outstanding pedigree to all his 3 sons.

Naas never had a better feeder to all his accolades.

Pedigree always comes out.Watch them...Schalk/and late senior Burger and Morne /Felix Du Plessis Pat Lambie,Gordon and Nic Labuschagne(Scotland) Gysie/Ruan and the inheritory factor...like good race horses keeps popping up...the list is endless...not only in Saffaland but everywhere where sport is played.

Yes not always spot on but close enough to tell some story.

Seb, please do elaborate on the fair and honest bit, please. Also do let me know what "too young" means. And...please never ever ever ever again say the words pedigree and Ruan in the same sentence. You will cause a war in rugby heaven and I fear the fallout will be horrific and irreconcilable. Promise me you'll never do that again.
