The following from News24:-

"Former Springboks coach Heyneke Meyer received a vote of confidence from Stade Francais owner Hans-Peter Wild on Thursday despite the Paris giants sitting rock bottom of the French Top 14.

Stade have won just two games in nine matches this season, a record which has seen Meyer's position come under intense scrutiny.

"Heyneke Meyer is and remains the sporting director and head coach," Wild told a news conference.

"I have never contacted other coaches to replace him. I do not know (coaches) Vern Cotter or Gonzalo Quesada. I have never met them."

Wild also insisted he "will continue to finance and run the club in order to make it one of the best teams in France and abroad."

On Saturday, Stade travel to Agen where they will be without former South Africa back-rower Willem Alberts.

The 43-time Springbok has been ruled out for up to four months with a bicep injury."

I am afraid that he loyalty of businessmen depends on getting good returns on money invested,  At this stage the fact is that the owner's return on his investment  is getting a zero return on investment.  Stade Francais is on the bottom of the log after 9 matches played and is in grave danger of being relegated.

There is no chance of improvement even in the match against  Agen because Alberts is suffering from  another fat tear - poor guy, he will be out of the game for four months and the owner got rid of Morne Steyn as well,  According to  some of our so-called thinkers that would be the reason why the club is in jeopardy.   How long before the coach is blamed for the fiasco and fired - I guess when the team is relegated,

We had to endure his idiocy for 4 long, painful years.

I would have thought that his poor showing as Goats commander and chief would have been reason enough to avoid this fool at all cost.

Seems not.

Please note that the most avid supporters of Meyer as Springbok coach and his selection and game plan idiocy is totally quiet about this issue.   When I wrote years ago that Meyer is an inadequate coach they went bananas,

All  went on until I compared the performance of the Springboks in the RC in 2015 and 2019 respectively they still claimed that the 2015 team performed better than the 2019 team and the 2015 team had a better game plan than the 2019 one.

How the hell can we believe them on any issue relating to rugby ?

Actually met the man by pure coincidence at the time of the WC. Shame, the stress in his eyes and face said it all, I couldn't help but feel for him, his heart was in the right place....emotionally he must have been a wreck.

Personally I think Meyer is a very nice person and he was under stress and did not sleep at all after the Japan disaster,   I still remember what you wrote on site at the time before the Scots test,

However, their is a lot of nice people in the world who falls short when it comes to their professional competence, . .

Yes mate, met a few of the players, imagine being in the hotel lift and whooska who gets in.......Bryan Habana himself. Same thing again with Tony Nkanya.......really nice fella, humble, soft-spoken but hey, he's mighty proud to be a Bok. Sometimes when I read Clean Cut's post I wish he'd m et the man.

Meyer though suffered an enormous amount of stress, I don't think the job did him any good health wise.

Meyers downfall is he is a poor selector, and he is too stubborn. He has an A plan, but no B plan. If it worked for the Bulls, it must work for everyone. He does not understand that the Bulls forwards during their heydey era were better than most international test teams, so it was not an apples with apples comparison.
Fat Albert is constantly injured, and Morne Steyn is way past it.

I agree with you in that one.  The other countries learned a lot about rugby after 2004 and changed their game plans and forward development evening up the competitiveness of their teams up front.

Unfortunately Meyer did not and ended up with a game plan teams could not win with.   For Meyer his hay day at the Bulls was all that counted and nothing was changed despite major law changes to make the game more interesting and spectator friendly,   The s coring of tries became the object - and not constant penalties,

Meyer never adjusted his approach and one wonders whether he actually was capable of doing so.  For him the game plans of the Cheetahs and Lions were anathema and he for that reason deliberately did not pick players from those two teams - other than enforced selection of Willie le Roux and Oupa Mohoje, the latter of which was a quota pick.    .

Meyer's Stade Francias now sits at the very bottom of the table and are on course to be dropped to the second division tournament unless Meyer can get better. Most of the test players have now returned from the world cup and played over the weekend.
In other news, Morne was sent back home with immediate effect. The Bulls wait in anticipation so they can return to aimless 10 man rugby.

Morne may have  problems at the Bulls.   74,5% pf the Bulls shares is now held by Johann Rupert and his partner Motsepe (the brother-in-law of Ramaphosa)  and they are not going to accept BS rugby.   With the departure of Pollard they are bound to look for a functional flyhalf and Morne is not the one - he is way to limited a player and way over-the-hill anyway.   More likely to go farming than to play for the Bulls.

Meyer is the most tactically versatile South African coach. Yet, the French have their own way and their league is far from easy.

Nice try to describe imaginary dreams - Meyer was clueless about coaching.  If he was tactically versatile why is he not so at Stade Francais?    Is it easy to get SA  from 5 in the world to no 1 in the world?

'Fat Albert is constantly injured, and Morne Steyn is way past it.'

And yet neither were on the field  in our WC loss against Japan....Pat Lambie and Stephanie were. And Morne was also not in the WC final, and Alberts only appeared as a sub.

Sure they ruined the WC for HM

Name one other Bok coach who scripted plays and sequences into the Bok gameplan from other unions, with the specific intent on accommodating the desired attributes of players who were to be the focal point of the game? He did this for Goosen, Lambie and Damian. Which makes their failures all the worse. There is no other account of a coach being so flexible or accommodating. Jake had his plan for the team, likewise Rassie, and that plan went. Meyer didn't ask players to do anything more than what they were supposedly doing well for their unions. In the case of Damian, Meyer whittled the gameplan down through the course of 2015 and began implementing Damian in ways he hadn't been used before, and that has been the blueprint for every coach who has had possession of him ever since. Don't you get tired of being my chew toy?

Lets face facts - Fat Alberts had a fat tear and was absent from rugby for 14 months and was in the WC squad despite the tear.   The team for the Japan test was announced and Fatso was named at no 7.  The Fat Tear intervened and at the last minute Du Toit was picked for the game an d had to play at 7 for the first time since 2012 when he played in that position in the JWC.

Who ruined the game that day - go and see the stats of the players who buggered up royally that day - it was not Lambie and Du Toit.

It was the real geriatrics and crude under-performers who caused the loss. That included Burger - the stand-in first receiver who constantly knocked on balls - Bismarck who believed he had to give the Japs penalties - the same with Pienaar - Matfield that was going near to zero about the implementation of the piss-poor game plan  Meyer wanted the Springboks to play.
The real problem was the shit squad selection and the fact there was no real game plan ever in evidence.

That script of Meyer was exactly why the games of each of the three players suffered and went down-hill.   The same happened to Pollard and Le Roux.   Any player coached by Meyer had one way to go and that is down.  Some players only found their feet in the NH clubs and others had to wait for Erasmus to start producing better rugby.

The Stade Francais scenario confirms exactly what I wrote.

Anyway thanks for confirming what n early wrecked the rugby careers of a number of players.

You haven't learned this week. What did I reveal? Willie was more than twice as effective under Meyer than he was for Rassie, even though he had less ball under Meyer. Pollard was also more effective. Another bump on the already scuffed and bloodied nose of the resident Pinocchio.

Listen dimness

Le Roux came to the fore in 2013.  By 2015 he lost all the spark there was in his game and he was totally out of Springbok selection for two years while recovering his playing abilities at his NH Club.

Pollard was not far more effective under Meyer.   He started of brilliantly under Meyer in his first test,  Thereafter he was in and out of the team like a jo-jo and in the WC in 2015 he was as flat as a pancake in performance.

Two top players amongst others who were nearly destroyed by Meyer as a coach.  Open you eyes to reality and stop writing daydreams on site,

Besides the Jap disaster the matfiled comeback was a tsyal disaster.

Matfiled gave away one on the most stupid penalties and handed the game to Nz.

Had he not had this "brain" imosipn the Boks would surely have beaten Oz in the final.

Orhan Huffer tell us again how Kirchner outplayed Folau an s Mohoje yes Mohoje outplayed McCaw. Oh my aching sides!!!

That comment about Meyer being such a versatile coach is also hilarious. Meyers one game plan was built around Fourue Du Preez. He didn't really have a plan B while Bok coach. It want a bad plan but counters were found to the high ball. You can't afford to be predictable.

I thought Meyer was a good coach until he coached the Boks - he was utterly useless. Some of his selections were pathetic - all built around Bulls players he knew despite many being past it. Was is Meyer who had the utterly useless Morne Steyn at 10?

Meyer wasn't brave enough, was too fearful and every win seemed like a great deal of relief for him. Don't think he enjoyed anything about it.
Quite a contrast when you look at Rassie, really enjoys his victories.

So let's check the logic. HasBeen says:

''Matfiled gave away one on the most stupid penalties and handed the game to Nz.

Had he not had this "brain" imosipn the Boks would surely have beaten Oz in the final."

Of course it was a very marginal neck roll penalty, hardly called before the WC and spotted by the Video ref, not in regular play. Review any 5 minutes of play and you will see several uncalled similar 'offences'.

But let's take it at face value. According to HasBeen this HM team were WC winners bar this trumped (no pun intended) up penalty.

So tell me chaps if that's true.....how bad was HM really? Because one thing is certain, Oz and the ABs were much stronger in 2015.

You are quite right Shezza. Meyer was too emotional. He didn't have the courage to stick to his guns. Jake on the other hand stuck it to the whole of South Africa, with both arms tied behind his back. Our rugby community is very ignorant, you need guts to stand your ground. Once Meyer turned to Lambie, Goosen, Damian, Reinach, Lood, Coetzee in 2014's EOYT he placed himself in a corner. We need a gulag for our media.

Sure Saffy. You know everything. I mean, Meyer had JJ, Kolisi, Damian, Lambie and Goosen... what could possibly go wrong. The two best 10s in the world, aside from Cooper - who is better than Carter - and the greatest centres in Bok history.

Best you stick to your long lists and prattling with your journo friends.

Meyer got the dream job at Stade Francais. The largest player budget ever to build a team. He built a team on donkeys. Ok, the forwards were decent but the backline was hopeless. Only near the end of the 1st season, the Stade Francais owner opened his wallet again were a few decent backline players purchased. His player selection is poor
In his first year in 2012, the Boks scored very few tries by the backline. In the second year, Zane Kircher got injured, and Willie Leroux was moved to XV - and also became the backline coach while on the field. With Habana and JP still in good form, Leroux was able to turn the Boks into an attacking force.
By 2015 Willie Leroux lost form and was also marked out of the game. Habana and J were also past it.
Fourie Dupreez returned and was the only salvation for the Boks in 2015. He was the best box kicker in world rugby, and the Boks returned to 10 man rugby with box kicks. Without FDP the Boks would have been out of the tournament in the quarters to the Welsh.
So Meyer had 2 good years, but 2012 and 2015 were poor. The only saving grace was the World Cup semi where the Boks were able to prevent the All Blacks playing rugby.
So I had faith in Meyer for a few years, but it is clear he is limited even compared to Jake White, and very limited compared to Rassie.
The writing is on the wall for Meyer. He is going to be sacked at Stade Francias soon...If he can't even coach a club team of players that he selected himself, it is surely an indication of a limited coach.

Morne was quoted in an article earlier that the reason Stade Francais is doing badly is that not everyone is singing from the same sheet.
He used the example of the Boks where everyone was committed to the same cause, where the players were playing for each other and their coach.
Was this an indirect sw ipe at Meyer?
