How long can Meyer last at Stade Francais?
The most dynamic Bok side of the century was Meyer's. The boring crash ball is what we have now. Crash, crash, kick, tackle, miss, try. Yes, boring.
Higher win percentage than Rassie. #2 for three years. 70.3% in those three years. The longest sustained success at test level. He did all this with an emphatically more rounded game. Now? We play the Stormers model, languishing in every statistical category. You have the audacity to bring the word boring into the conversation!
AO
You are so weird it is unbelievable. Crashballing was an initiative introduced by the Bulls when Myer was coach there and gradually found their way into the test side. When Meyer became coach of the Springboks it became he only game in town.
You now scream about kicking - but the worst kickers ever was Morne an co. No real execution - just hand over possession to the opposing teams and you do not need to worry about how to use possession to best advantage, and you have the gall to moan abo ut present kicking and crashballing, LMAO
Actually, Meyers Bulls achieved a linebreak per try at their peak. That's a level of efficiency no Rassie team has come close to achieving. As I have also shown, Rassies players are much less inclined to distribute. Steph dies with the ball over 70% of the time. Damian is also very low in distribution. Our key carriers under Rassie lead to stagnant phase play. Willie, at his worst under Meyer, 2015, achieved more than double the output. That was actually three times the run metres in fewer runs. There is no possible way for you to defend Rassie here. Then there is Rassie's history with the Stormers, turning an attacking team into a defence driven, static crashballing team. The Stormers have been at the very bottom, or near it, every season for linebreaks and languishing in all other categories since the Rassie years. You lose again Dreck.
Oh, and, nice little exaggeration you put in there. Meyer introducing the crashball to South Africa.
Dreck, you are too much cringe for me to take! Your twaddle may impress you, senile friends, not so much me. Blabbing the very first malformed aberration your enfeebled mind can conjure has been a sure recipe for failure.
No
There is really no truth in what you wrote at all, Crashballing became the norm long before Erasmus were in coaching for the number of years - in fact two years with the Cheetahs and less than 3 years with the Stormers, It was always a no-no with the Cheetahs and it was not the only game in town when De Villiers played for the Stormers.
The sickness with crashballing were always associated with Bulls Rugby more than anything else and it ruined many players like Serfontein and even De Allende. Serfontein had to escape from the clutches of the Bulls .to start developing further as a player and De Allende did much better under Erasmus than he did before under the deadhead coaches he replaced. .
By the time the ball went to the backs, there was no one left to make a tackle.
