Name your Bok training squad of 40, forget quotas and include players due back shortly from injury:

Would be interesting to see how many we have in common

15. Willie / Gelant

14/11. Combrink / Ulengo / Senatla / Kolbe / Sergel Petersen

13/12. de Allende / Serfontein / Jessie Kriel / Frans Venter / Mapoe

10. Jantjies / Lambie / Goosen

9. Hougaard / Faf / Groom

1/3. Kitshoff / Thomas du Toit / Nyakane / Malherbe / Marcel v/d Merwe / Coenie

2. Bismark / Strauss / Marx

4/5. Etzebeth / PSDT / Willemse / Lood / Snyman / Jenkins

6/7/8. Jaco Kriel / Kolisi / Carr / Kirsten / Arno Botha / Jacques du Plessis / Mostert

Good mix across the franchises:

Bulls – 11

Stormers – 9

Lions – 7

Sharks – 4

Cheetahs – 3

Overseas - 6

Injured who would have featured in my squad are Pollard, Coetzee, Reinach and Vorster at the expense of Goosen, Mostert, Groom and Mapoe

Its not about my choices Moz.....I want to see yours

As for Vermeulen, poor WC and even worse for Toulon all this season.....he seems to have past his prime, much like Beast, JP, Habana and Schalk have.

If I was Coetzee, I would pick a backline of midgets- even though the game plan is not to use the backline

I would pick players on the basis of ability and those bottling up should not be anywhere near the sqaud as well as their ability to defend.   That means a player like Kolbe is not in line at all.
However, I would also pick players on the basis of performance.  For some reason or another Vermeulen is not doing well at Toulon and one wonders what went wrong with the guy.   Based on what I have seen of him playing for his club - selection will have to be based on reputation, definitely not present performance.
It is going to select a team at this stage and I would say there are some gaps to be filled.   However, Coetzee will pick a BEE team so some obvious players will not be in line for selection - while some under-performing players like De Jongh will be.   That would be the end of the test series.

I am not predicting anything - because the team is not known yet,  However, if Coetzee uses a Meyer style stupid selection system by selecting duds like De Jongh and the nervous Jantjies who cannot face stress  - we all know what to expect.

You just said 'Coetzee will pick a BEE team"....and you are not predicting anything?  What  a calamity you are Tokkie. The calamity would be Goosen, Eterhozen, Kriel backline....all of whom you have heavily supported.

The OP reads about 40 players. Eventually, there are only 13 in form players?
What happened?

How old is that Coetze guy? At this pace, he will have to put his own name in the list.

Name where I heavily supported Esterhuizen - you are a lying drip though.  I said Goosen was doing very well for Racing Metro at this stage - and that is all I said about him.

The Sharks team for the game against the Bulls is as follows:-

15   SP Marais,  14  JP Pietersen,  13  S’Bara Sithole,  12   Francois Steyn,  11  Lwazi Mvovo,  10 Patrick Lambie,  9   Cobus  Reinach,  8   Ryan Kankowski,  7  Willem Alberts,  6  Marcell Coetzee,  5  Stephen Lewies,  4  Anton Bresler,  3  Jannie du Plessis,   2  Bismarck du Plessis (c),  1 Tendai Mtawarire

Replacements :

16   Kyle  Cooper,  17  Dale Chadwick,  18   Lourens Adriaanse,  19  Etienne  Oosthuizen,  20  Tera Mthembu,  21  Charl McLeod,   22 Timo  Swiel,  23 Andre Esterhuizen.

I highlighted two youngsters in particular.   Both are of the most promising players I have seen for years in SA.  I think Lambie and in particular Francois Steyn must hope that those two do not get enough playing time - or their own positions could be in jeopardy.
