No, he would be too slow for a loosie. He is not too tall, just seems to be injury prone and by all accounts Stormers overplayed him when he was injured - poor of Coetzee really

I have spoken out about this several times in the past. There are certain limitations to the human body; much like that in the dog world. With certain breeds there is a standard that is maintained to keep the breed healthy. I would like to reference the Doberman, as there are those that seek after the 'Warlock' Doberman. A Doberman with unnaturally large dimensions, particularly height. Often mixed with obscure breeds to attain extra height and/or mass. The net result is that you have a Dobie with structural problems, hip dysplasia being a common one. Bekker is at the very peak of the human range for height before one suffers these sorts of problems. Yes, South Africans produce very tall people with a strong tendency towards mesamorphism whilst maintaining a robust structure; Bekker is not such a person. Hence why he struggles to endure the the physical demands of the sport. I would suggest to him that he no longer participates in the sport as his body is going to pay an extraordinary price later on in life. He has been injured every season since 2008, and since 2009 he has struggled to make it through an entire Super rugby campaign. He cannot physically assert himself without being injured, and is not robust enough to last an entire campaign. Should one invest in him as the future of Bok rugby? Matfield was always there, Bekker will never be able to provide the same continuity. Thus I believe his injury now is a blessing for the Boks. Should Kruger establish a nice combination it would provide the Boks with greater consistency. Besides, Kruger and Ezebeth have both been better than Flip and Bekker anyway.

Yep the poor lad seems doomed. He was awesome at some point last here, when he looked so fit and muscled up. He seemed to have lost all that conditioning this year and by all accounts has not been in a happy place with a divorce on his hands

LOL! I own one. Bekker doesn't have the sheer audacity, fearlessness, robustness, energy, freakish stamina, discipline, intelligence or loyalty of a Doberman. He isn't even a quarter; maybe a Chihuahua in Giraffe's clothing? That would be more like it ;)

Der Aristokrat

You are a very lucky guy - you have escaped a fate worse than death by your choice of a dog.   I own four Jack Russells and they really are a threat in the house.   They run everything and they think they can beat anything of any size.   If a Doberman is better than Bekker - then is a Jack Russell better than Hougaard?:)

The real threat in my house is the Siamese, and I'm not joking :s

The Jack Russell is the Ricky Januarie of dogs (in his prime). My neighbours have two.
