Rose
The tackle on Itoje by Faf was only a small contributor to Faf making your “best lock” in the world his biatch.
He embarrassed him multiple times in that series. Drawing penalties and made Itoje spunk early to ultimately score a try. No doubt, the little gentleman that Faf is, he made sure sure to thank the Nigerian import cordially each time.
Note, Itoje sites Eben as his role model. At least he gets that right ;)
Watch any rugby Podcast that you like or read as many articles as you want, when locks come up, Eben’s name is more often than not the first name mentioned. He gets respect from everybody. “Ask the audience” is still the most accurate lifeline in WWTBAM.
Rose, whomever you are, stats aside, there is one defining factor that makes Eben great. He managed to improve under Alistar Coetzee. That alone makes him a generational player haha

Every single podcast i’ve watched since the game disagrees with Rose’s assessment of Eben and the Boks.
Rose, have a look through the history of the posts on this site. When the Boks are shyte, we are their biggest critics. That speaks a little to how biased, or unbiased, we are. There’ll always be some bias but i think that SA fans are very critical of our teams. Your view seems to be that we view the Boks with rose coloured glasses but the evidence against that is all on this site…in black and white.
My feeling is that the biggest issue for the Boks atm, is the black hole at 12.
Esterhuizen broke his hand in the second Wales test.
I guess it’s tough to tell, but i’m wondering if Rassie is over DDA and looking to phase him out. I think that Andre may have started the AB tests had he not messed up his hand.
Up front, we are earning the right for our backs to express themselves, but that creativity is being filtered through DDA…easily the least creative and lowest IQ player of any of the backs in the squad.
Pollard’s real skill is his assessment of attacking opportunities. He very rarely attempts to set the back line off only to have them caught behind the gain line. If you look at his decisions to pass or kick, when he passes, it’s usually with intent and potential. Meaning, DDA is receiving quality service, with assurances…and he more often than not flounders that quality ball.
As Saffex says, 12 is a dang important. For me, a better 12 is the key to unleashing the Bok’s full potential.
