Habana came on late in the final, and I can't say I saw any mistakes. He also made some good tackles. Of the three 15 man stars Messam played the most constructive role. But it's a very different game ...the Qualude hopping around doesn't get it.....it's mostly about hard direct running in space. I would rank them Messam, Habana...Pooper.
By the way old man Forbes saved your bacon in the second half.

Habana is too old and too slow for 7's - adds very little value to the side.....unlike de Jongh and Kolbe who were fantastic additions from 15's.
The Blitzbokke have the best attacking players in the game.....it does not get better than Senatla, Geduld, Afrika, Bronco du Preez, Specman, Kolbe, Kok, Kwagga and de Jongh.....speed and dancing feet
Unfortunately the side is not complimented with effective enough forwards....we lack a physical edge here......NZ bullied us in this department.....Dry, Payne, Brown and Snyman are not the answers
What we need is players in the mould of Jaco Kriel, Damien de Allende, Marcel Coetzee, Esterhuizen, Carr, du Preez twins and Kolisi playing as our forwards.
The Blitzbokke would be unstoppable if they had forwards with physical clout and skill

I agree our scrum was dominated, and we were also second best on the ground. We hardly had any possession in the final, and when we did mistakes cost us. But we have the runners.
Guys like Senatla and Afrika read the game brilliantly,

I love Specman's feet.....they guy is able to create something from nothing from a standstill.
Geduld is another super 7's player......great feet and awareness
Senatla needs to be brought into the Bok 15's side, same applies to Kolbe......these guys are special.....yes they will get owned at times given their size but their defence for the most is sound, in particular Kolbe.
I am all for the big guys at test level, but there is place for an electric little guy on the wing.....Nowell for England and the little Argie wing, name escapes me.....he was one of the players of the WC.
Who to choose as your 4 starting backs when all the players are fit and available will be one hell of a task......the only certainty to start is Senatla......but which 3 to go with from Kok, du Preez, Kolbe, de Jongh, Specman and Afrika is one hell of a headache.
Our 7's side is let down by the forwards......the Kiwi's outsmarted us....as obvious as that is as we dont have a counter for the physical game given we dont have the players.
I dont rate our 7's forwards except hooker Kwagga Smith who is awesome
We need to cast the net wider and find physical guys with skill to play as 7's props, players who can at least counter the physical barrage from the likes of NZ and Fiji
Oz did the same to us a few weeks ago.....ideal players would be the likes of Jaco Kriel and Marcel Coetzee.....these are the kinds of players Powell needs to find.

In Sevens you either need explosive pace (senatla) or the ability to step (Speckman, Geduld, Kolbe), if neither of these you need to be excellent on the ground (Kwagga, Brown) and unfortunately I don't really see what a current Habana brings to the team...a habana from 7 years ago would have tore it up but unfortunately not now.

Said our forwards were all wrong. We can fix it but it better happen quickly.I would think of Kreil, Allende and A du Preez twin. But these guys need all the 7s experie nce they can get.

Horne has retired I think...is past it....used to only come off the bench in the last tournament he played.
We need to find physical skilful chaps to play as forwards.
