From Sharksworld:

Du Plessis’s on Jake collision course?

Another round of “Bismarck and Jannie du Plessis are going to France” rumours seems to have fired up this morning, with a respected French publication claiming the brothers have already signed post-World Cup deals with Montpellier.

All plausible so far, apart from one tiny fly in the ointment; the freshly-appointed coach of the South Coast side is none other than one Jacob Westerduin, with whom the brothers have a long, if not altogether happy history.

Westerduin, better known as Jake White in the rugby world, is apparently not the brothers’ favourite coach, with older boet Jannie in particular bearing some hard feelings dating back to White’s tenure as Bok coach. An unhappy 12 months under White as Director of Rugby at the Sharks did little to heal the wounds for either brother.

We all know that these French reports tend to be very premature and often confuse “early negotiation” with “signed contract”. One thing I do know for sure, though, is that neither du Plessis brother will willingly move to a club that features Jake White on its staff, so unless there is already a completely iron-clad contract in place (which would have been negotiated and signed prior to White’s arrival) this one, for me, is a non-starter.

Bismarck and Jannie have contributed greatly to Sharks rugby but I think that era has about run its course. Sharks need some fresh minds that are not corrupted by grandiosity. It's time....

The Sharks have Cooper as a handy replacement for Bismark but they have no replacement for Jannie as Adriaanse is useless. They need to find a tighthead replacement

I do not know tthe exact reason for Jake White's departure from the Sharks - but a number of reasons were given in the media, and when there is smoke there is a fire.   The reports seems to insist that Jake White either had to resign or would be fired.
One of the problems listed include his relationship with the players.   He apparently had his favourites and favouritism does not promote team spirit.   His favourites include players like Francois Steyn and Cronje - while some was not in his circle of favourites.
Aside from other reasons - a number of players apparently refused to renew their contracts with the Sharks if White stays on as coach - and apparently that was one of the reasons for his sudden departure.   I would not be surprised if the Du Plessis brothers were also two of the dissatisfied players as reported in the above article.

Here we have Mozart at his best.    He attacks Bismarck for being crap - but Jannie is his "national treasure"    The fool would not accept that in 2014 Jannie was crap as well and that h would be worse in 2015.
Be it as it may - the club has apparently denied the report.   So what is going on here as to the Du Plessis brothers?
Fact is there apparently was trouble between Jake White and the most of the Sharks players - the two Du Plessis brothers probably too - so much so that players refused to renew their contracts with the Sharks if White stays on.   The article quoted came from Sharksworld and strongly hint at problems of the relevant nature in the Sharks set-up.
If Jake White was as astute as you claim - he would not stuff up the situation to have favourite players - who caused problems in performance, yet got away with it because they were White's protegees.   His relationship with some players were icy - as was mentioned earlier by Matfield.   There nearly ws a fist fight between White and Matfield at one stage - when the latter creep openly campaigned for the appointment of Meyer as coach in 2008 and White was aware of the fact that his ouster in 2007 was in the main due to the Bulls orchestration of the campaign against him.
This Matfield and Meyer story was a blot on the case of White in 2007 and is still a blot on the Springboks in 2014.  A nother case of favouritism that stinks to high heaven.

So who should we believe,  Jake White WC and Trinations winner, the guy who instantly resurrected the Brumbies and took the Sharks to the playoffs...or the OOm who gets his insights on the Provincial Administration grapevine. The guy who predicted the Aussies were going to thrash the Boks home and away in the RC? Boy what a hard call ....waaaahaha.

Haaaaaahahahahahaaaa!!!!

The year has certainly started off with a bang. Mozart and Mike going at it ... with great enthusiasm it seems.

Personally I'm not a Jannie fan. He in my view is completely overrated. A liability we could do without.

Jake on the other hand seems to be a bit of trouble maker. That and completely u nreliable.

Did Bismarck's form dip because of Jake?

Will we see the Bismarck of old return now that Jakey boy's gone? I hope so. With Meyer and his stupidity we need at least one quality player running on with the rest of the elderly fellas.

Apparently and fact in the same sentence.....?

"What utter rubbish - you get beaten when I referred to actual media reports............."

Fact is () that while there were actual media reports we do not know for certain how accurate those actual media reports were.

One thing we cant do is believe anything Jake the Snake has to say.....it is very clear he is disliked by senior players......look no further than Matfield and the du Plessis brothers.

Bismark is the best hooker in the game, any side would jump at signing him.....but its clear the du Plessis boys don't want to be anywhere near that twat Jake White.

Cant say I blame them......the world is their oyster in terms of securing overseas contracts......those two class players will be snapped up by foreign clubs. Clubs will be beside themselves to sign these two, they hardly need to associate themselves with a coach they dislike.

Maybe you should look again. I haven't been "on his back" for ages. I have pretty much been ignoring his BS for weeks now. I hardly ever respond to his childish little jabs, etc. I have just picked up on his loose use of the term "facts". I have even had a decent discussion, very recently, where I mostly agreed with what he was saying and then he turned around again and said that I was missing the point.

You don't know how close you are to the truth. Ou Maaikie saw a picture of Morne Steyn with a bunch of Paris St Germaine football players. That picture led to this thread (read it and watch how he tries to wriggle himself out of the brown stuff):

No really chaps  the OOm is plugged in.... the provincial administration old boy network shouldn't be under estimated. He also claims he once met Ole Cruz, but finally conceded Ole was a fake....only to come back a few weeks later when new data emerged and attack all those who doubted Cruz, conveniently forgetting himself.

Mike - how on earth did you ever, or where did you ever read that Lionel Cronje was a Jake White favorite ?

By the way - up until now, Lionel Cronje has not appeared for the Sharks in a Super rugby match. The Sharks Currie Cup side is not coached by Jake, but I think he might still have been director of rugby at the time Lionel Cronje arrived.

Cronje played a relatively few games for the Sharks when there was absolutely no other choice available and to my knowledge he hardly featured for the Brumbies either.

So I dont know how you dreamed up the favoritism thing. I am no cheerleader for Jake White but quite frankly I think you need a breath mint for the absolute k@k you talk.

You losing it old codger ?

Guys, guys, guys you are writing about Jake and Jannie who are both over the hill and have always been elevated to levels that they did not deserve.
Bissy is a different story....#1 hooker in rugby today.
I just wish to add that from what I have heard from my rugby circle is that John Smit was the real leader and motivator of the Springbok victories.

Not White, Jannie or Victor.

The Mozart Moron at it again.
The bloody idiot does not realize that Matfield undermined John Smit as captain and also Jake White.   Jake White had to get Eddie Jones to help out with the coaching - since he was clueless about backline play.
In that poisoned team environment it was John Smit that was the key to keep some sort of united team in place - so the comments of AJ could be spot on.
However, what is indeed clear - as good a coach Jake White may be - he has serious relationship deficiencies and he more often than not alienate people - as was the case resulting in his speedy departure from the Sharks.

Don't change the topic. I am still trying to get the delirious, senile old codger to explain to me why he thinks Jake White favored Lionel Cronje. If you allow the message to go too far up the thread he thinks he is off the hook.

Its just so funny to me - out of all the actual favorites that Jake had, Oupa chooses Lionel Cronje ! So random. I have to try to understand how this dustfarter's mind works.

Sharky
White was the coach who took Lionel Cronje from the Lions to the Brumbies and when the latter failed - got him back for the Sharks.    Same happened in the case of a number of other SA players who followed White to the Brumbies and never really got playing time. If you think that the Sharks would have taken Cronje without inteference by White - you are just kidding yourself.
However, Cronje was a minor element in this case - the bugger-up Jake made that really caused havoc was his favourite Francois Steyn.
